Old MiniDisc recordings of various DJ sets from 2000-2004 that I have kept in a box in some dusty dark cabinet and much later recorded into a WAV format to upload here on Soundcloud. Note that all of these mixes were recorded from vinyl via a DJ mixer into ATRAC, the native lossless compression format for MiniDisc. The quality is not perfect but it's great, it was the best affordable option for recording DJ mixes back in this era. Think of it as a digital tape :)

A deep session of 20 ethereal, melodic and groovin' house records. From Shane Berry's meandering, far-out interpretation of Aural Imbalance, we move through some more colourful and melodic shades of 4/4 en route to a proper heads down, hypnotic middle section of groovin' Tech House.

After the dubby, pulsating sounds of Afrilounge, Laid and Azuni, the wind-down comes gracefully with a calmer vibe and hint of eclecticism, culminating in the dreamy vibes of "Stereopsis" by German Tech House messiah, Terry Lee Brown Junior. Get it downloaded, get it listened to!

Alec Pritchard pres. Deep House Session (11-01-2011)

I hadn't uploaded one of these old MiniDisc recordings for a while... so thought the time had come. This was a recording of a live set I played at a really nice 4-storey old venue in Leicester called "Original 4" that was in a mock-tudor building that split a street into two (a bit like Times Square, NY). This set was in the main ground floor room of the venue, which had a really nice booth and soundsystem.

I remember getting this gig simply by taking them a demo MiniDisc and they got back to me to say they liked it. You could do that back then and this was how I got most of my gigs, taking them something with a personal touch... I don't think it works like that these days. This was recorded on Saturday 3rd May 2003.

Yet another old MiniDisc recorded in, this one was labelled "Deep, Trippy Tech House Mix! :-|", pretty self-explanatory. Used to have a vast amount of this kind of deep, dubby, techy house music and stupidly sold most of these kinds of records around 2006-2007. To this day I am constantly buying them back again... I have learned my lesson not to sell any records because even though you may have become bored with them after a while, they become part of your soul and you miss them when they are gone.

Still more MiniDiscs to be recorded in and uploaded, which I will do sporadically over time rather than all in one quick burst. Hope you enjoy the mix, I'll try to remember track ID's for anyone interested! :)

A live recording from 2004, this would have been the first 1 hour 20 minutes of a 5-hour set at a really nice lively bar that was called The Common Room in the West End of Leicester. I used to play almost every Friday here for about 2 years... was a great little spot, brings back good memories listening to this!
