ALEKS SASHKA

ATTENTION: This is an unfinished, unmixed project I initially uploaded to receive feedback, but it somehow ended up kick-starting a new chapter of my musical journey. 

"Flammenritt" is a hard-hitting, driving but melodic Techno track with influences from UK House & Garage as well as old-school Techno and modern Tech House. 
The foundation of the song consists of a pounding kick drum, which pulse gets accentuated by a raw-sounding, analog bassline. Starting as a groovy but driving bass rhythm, the synth starts to evolve its rhythmical and textural structure according to the feelings and energy the story needs at any given time. 
Those changes happen over the course of the track in conjunction with the occurrence of the tonal and atonal story elements in the form of various modulated pads, plucks and lead synth patches. With every new chapter, the bassline's rhythmical variations carefully but urgently guide the listener through whatever may come - when suddenly everything gets violently swirled and twisted around itself, until time and space become meaningless terms...

(Mostly finished arrangement, but I will maybe add stuff. Partially unfinished sound processing. Only roughly mixed by changing volume balances, panning, EQing and some compression.)

The kind of track that will fill you with energy, lets you jump up and start dancing even after 48 hours of nonstop raving.

An homage to Leonard Cohens "You Want It Darker" as a slow, atmospheric and ominous Tech-House Remix.

The original song was written shortly before Mr. Cohens death. The lyrics were his last words to the god he prayed to his whole life. A god who were supposed to be omnipresent and omnipotent and loving, but never answered Cohen's prayers for help. Through his lyrics, it becomes apparent that he made his judgment through suffering. 

"A Million Candles Burning For The Help That Never Came..."

I tried to capture the feeling of the original song to the best of my ability.

A warm and atmospherically dense Techno track with an ominous sustained chord progression which is present throughout the song and gets played by modulated analog basses, pads and leads. 

Modulated noise samples and harmonically accentuating vocal drones are providing movement, texture and emotionally engaging harmonies. 

Once the sampled main instrument breaks through the dense and heavy analog fog with a contrasting bright and clear tonality, Calypso's love and hope can be heard. But sometimes neither love nor hope is enough.

This is an old DJ set I played at "Techno In Town" (Weinheim, 2016).

To warm up, the set started with slower, groovy Tech-House and Deep
Techno. Over the course of the mix, the tracks played increase in
energy by becoming faster and more driving. From deep bass grooves to
harder Techno with classic rave vibes, I tried my best to guide the
crowd into the night.
