Joel, a minor Prophet from the bible, Verdad the Spanish word for Truth. A fitting moniker for up and coming rapper; Joel Verdad, a Charlotte North Carolina native who is poised to bring hip hop back to its roots. Born Donovan Joel Long, it was the melodic flow of poetry and literary pieces, including Shakespeare, which piqued the young intellects interests and served as a catalyst into the world of hip hop. A Hopewell high school graduate and the youngest of three siblings, Verdad put his college education on hold to pursue his love for music. As a staple on the Queen City music scene, Joel has impressed many with such songs as the hypnotizing “Sweet Carols”, “Soul” featuring Ryan Harrell, “Church on Traxxx” featuring Deniro Farrar and “Kradle Rock” featuring Young Money artist Lil’Chuckee. His lyrics, while enlightening and fun, possess an emotional and spiritual element rarely seen in today’s musical line up. A fan of eclectic beats, Verdad will inevitably be compared to other artists such as; Lupe Fiasco, Cee-lo Green, and Andre 3000. Though currently unsigned, Joel Verdad firmly believes that Hip Hop isn’t dead and his mesmerizing style will win back fans and once again make Hip Hop a household name.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 24, 1989 and living in North Carolina since 1996, Chandler ‘Arsenik’ Solomon has always been southern influenced. Loving Hip Hop music since its Golden Age of the mid-late 1990’s, Arsenik was determined enough to try his hand at making his own music since 2006.  Inspired by by artists such as Eminem and Chino XL, Arsenik has a fast paced flow and a strong vocabulary with a wit that can admittedly go over listeners heads at times.

Since linking up with the Iconoclast Crew, led by Ed E. Ruger in January 2011, Arsenik has taken to the stage with aplomb. Arsenik has rocked shows in Greensboro and Charlotte and has opened shows for artists such as Big Smo, Lizard Lick Towing theme song writer.  Arsenik has also picked up video editing to expand his range and in April 2012, he took over the reins of IconoclastCrewTV handling most filming and video editing duties. The videos he has directed and edited have been all over the web on major hip hop sites the world over, such as The Source, HipHopDX, AllHipHop and ThisIs50.com

In January 2012, Arsenik started up a website which commenced focusing on North Carolina Hip Hop.  As it rapidly expanded, its first anniversary brought along with it, a format change to cover hip hop from all over the nation.  Arsenik’s success has been bolstered by his counterparts from Boone, NC, ES1 and NKUltra, or collectively, ÆNK. The site has garnered over 500k hits in its first quarter after its rebirth.

Being referred to by the Iconoclast Crew leader Ed E. Ruger as “our group’s Swiss Army Knife” Arsenik’s future looks to have been cemented as a busy one.
