The latest edition of our Inspired By mix series features Mr. West taking on the challenge of reimagining the sounds of the Botanica stage at his very own festival, Westival. 

In his own words:

'Botanica, the 300 cap indoor dome, is littered with jungle foliage and greenery to create the botanical effect, and is one of Westival’s 5 stages. The decks are placed in the middle, and the lighting and sound is hung from a central truss cube to give 360 D&B audio, and a chance for anybody in the crowd to be part of the atmosphere.

Since the stages inception in 2022, Botanica has played to host some of my favourite artists; Quest, Interplanetary Criminal, Local Group, Jay Carder, Desert Sound Colony, Darwin, and a raucous 5hr back-to back from Dr Banana and Lukas Wigflex.

In Botanica, most DJs play with an ‘anything goes’ attitude, and this mix is no different. UKG, Breaks, Wobblers, Speedy bits, Euphoric numbers, there really is something for everyone. During most sets I try and cover an array of styles, playing what feel’s right for the crowd and setting. Recording a set is of course a little different, but I’ve gone in with the same emphasis on mixing things up and darting around the genres.'

The very long-awaited, tenth release of iO (Mulen)’s Blackloops label is finally in the stores. Probably, the most massive release on the label ever, that has been carefully fed to very close friends and family for around a year. We just can’t be happier about it.

This one, despite the usual name of DiSKOP, is a collaboration between iO (Mulen) and Pan4ez, a Ukrainian UKG and 2-step wizard. This is not the first time for the label to put somebody else under that name, but until iO (Mulen) won’t share all the guest appearances there, we won’t either.
