Sacramento death metal ogres, ALTERBEAST, will release their forthcoming new full-length, Immortal,  via Unique Leader Records next month.

Meticulously assembled in several locals throughout 2013, with guitars and bass recorded at Augmented Audio in Los Angeles by former The Black Dahlia Murder bassist Ryan “Bart” Williams, vocals arranged at Mayhemeness Studios in Sacramento by Bob Swanson (Rings Of Saturn) and drums tracked at Castle Ultimate Studios with Zack Ohren (Light This City, All Shall Perish, First Blood, Cattle Decapitation, Warbringer et al), who also mixed and mastered the release, Immortal vows to supply some of the most dynamic, instrumentally adept and plainly scathing material of the year.

Formed in 2011 under the working title Gary Busey Amber Alert (GBAA), ALTERBEAST combines the teachings of The Black Dahlia Murder, Necrophagist and Spawn of Possession with the classic death metal mastery of band’s like Dissection and Morbid Angel into an irate expulsion of audio wreckage. After a year of dedicated song-crafting, ALTERBEAST unleashed their first demo in 2012 and officially waged war on the populace with numerous shows opening for Deicide, Dying Fetus, Testament, Revocation, Exhumed, Severed Savior and many others. Their crushing live assaults combined with a DIY ethos quickly earned them a revered place within the local death metal community.

Immortal will rear its head upon the masses on March 18, 2014 via Unique Leader.

After a two-year hiatus, Ohio technical grinding death metal peddlers, LOCUSTA, will be embarking on a live takeover through the East Coast this Spring! Slated to commence on May 13th in Raleigh, North Caroline, LOCUSTA will rape faces through Columbia, Knoxville, Columbus, Washington DC, Baltimore, Brooklyn, Providence, Portland, Philadelphia, Harrisonburg and Richmond with additional incursions to be announced in the coming weeks. The band will be joined by drummer Alex Tomlin (Battlemaster, Arsis, Withered et al).

LOCUSTA is currently putting the finishing touches on their as-yet-untitled full-length tentatively scheduled to drop later this year. In the meantime, ravaging preview track, “Contaminant Remains,” will appear on the band’s forthcoming, four-track Dendromorphosis EP which also includes a molten rendition of Death’s “See Through Dreams,” and artwork by renowned designer Lucas Ruggieri (BlackTusk, Kylesa, Ghoul, cough et al). Dendromorphosis will be available for purchase at all upcoming tour dates.

Comments the band of their forthcoming live offensive: “We’re looking forward to hitting the road again after such an agonizingly long break from touring and to what we’re anticipating will be some of the best shows we’ve ever played, both in respect to the caliber of the bands we’re billed with and the fact that our live sets sound tighter than they ever have before. Our set lists will mostly contain songs from the new album, including the first track we’ve ever written that extends past the nine-minute mark, which is easily the darkest and most epic piece of music we’ve written so far. There is more grinding technicality than before, but the songs are also much more mature from a songwriting point of view than what you hear on our first album. Formed in the fall of 2006, LOCUSTA take their name from a female chemist from Ancient Rome regarded as the first documented serial killer. For the recent successes of technical death outfit ARCHSPIRE to come into fruition, certain variables must align. Talent, drive, creativitiy, and absolute dedication are only a few characteristics one may notice about the group, and indeed many have experienced the bi-product of these characteristics:

A tight live performance, where impressive speeds come grinding to a halt, and in even less time twist and contort into complex passages rife with beautiful harmonies, juxtaposed against insidious melodies. An attention to songwriting, focusing not only on technicality, but originality as well, take this sub genre and put it on it's ear. And the combination of musical backgrounds, which is apparent in much of ARCHSPIRE'S music, showing itself through catchy rhythms, interesting riffs and arrangements, and progressive passages.

Pushing boundaries of speed and endurance set only by the genre's top artists, while remaining accessible and interesting is no small feat. These Canadians have proven themselves worthy of touring and playing with bands like Origin, Decapitated, Hate Eternal, Abysmal Dawn, Vomitory, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Aborted.

When all the elements required align in such a way that they form something original, and interesting, it becomes a catalyst for something new... and in the case of ARCHSPIRE, All has indeed, Aligned.
