"La Maison cachée" est un conte pour enfant écrit par Martin Waddell. Dans ce conte nous suivons une petite maison qui, à travers les yeux de trois poupées, va petit à petit disparaitre dans la foret, jusqu'à un jour être re-découverte par une petite famille.

Four Miniatures (for Trumpet and Piano)

In the installation, Ryu arranges bamboo, food containers, cable ties, and fragments of translation into layered configurations that suggest adaptation, binding, and distortion. The assemblages echo the spliced sounds: both operate through interruption and reconfiguration. Within this shared rhythm of fracture and repair, the work opens a space where differentiation is not a boundary but a method — a living process of resonance between materials, bodies, and cultures.
The sound part from Yanqi, on the other hand, blurs the temporal boundary between past and present. Yanqi collected field recordings from travels, daily radio broadcasts, and old songs in the artists’ mother language, then wove them together with cassette tapes from the 1980s belonging to strangers. Performed live on two vintage cassette players, these sonic fragments form a layered collage that unsettles linear time and stable identities, creating an acoustic space in which cultural traces and temporal fragments intertwine, resonate, and take on new forms.

Movement 4 - Winter: Observations Within Isolation

THE FOUR SECTIONS is a four-movement suite that, like most of my independent works, came to me on a whim. Centuries ago, Antonio Vivaldi wrote the violin concerti THE FOUR SEASONS, which has since become what is arguably the most famous example of word painting.

In conceiving a new multi-movement piece, I sought to re-contextualize the core idea behind Vivaldi's immortal work by applying new layers. To create greater variation between movements, I chose to restrict the orchestration of each 'season' to exactly one of the four sections of the typical orchestra (woodwinds, brass, rhythm, and strings). To draw inspiration from a direct source, I teamed up with Lilly Gieseke (an old collaborator) to write poetry that would generate creative ideas.

The fourth and final movement, WINTER, focuses on the string section - 16 first violins, 16 second violins, 14 violas, 12 celli, and 8 basses. Lilly's approach to writing the coldest season was from the perspective of a single individual on a walk, and focused heavily on a nuanced series of contrasts. When surrounded by nothing barren forests and snowy plains, you may be so overwhelmed by the lifelessness of your surroundings that you turn a blind eye to it. However, once you do so, you realize just how lonely you are, being the only conduit through which lifefulness is flowing in that moment and space. At once, you feel both big and small in the vast, frigid landscape. However, these feelings don't last long, because there are facts about the situation that can ground yourself. No matter who you are or what you do, other life will always surround you. If it's hidden now, it will show itself later. After digesting these themes, I wrote over 10 minutes of slow, gentle music, taking advantage of the various timbres of the string section to create a contemplative soundscape of contrasts between faint, 'cold' violin haromics and rich, 'warm' cello chords, ultimately tying everything together with a mood that slowly evolves from a melancholy emptiness into a comforting presence.
