I played a sketch of this backtrack for Chris at an early session, and he magically laid down the entire flute part in one go, after only one listen through. It was inspired. The energy was so pure and perfect, and reminded me of a boat trip I did on the Ganges, going past Varanasi early A.M. before sunrise. The introduction to this piece is from the soundtrack of video I took as the boat floated past a ceremonial funeral pyre and morning prayers. I showed Chris some the films I took and he embroidered on the sound journey sounds for the bridge between the verses, to create a powerful sense of spirits leaving bodies, having flown from strange, haunting funeral pyres, on the banks of the mysterious river culture of Mother Ganges, India.
