Meet Hope and Derek Heehaw—two siblings from a country-music-obsessed family in the south of the USA—in this radio show as day trip journal. Perspectives and legacies of their upbringing linger in their contrasting worldviews, which are confronted as they leave the city for a day and go out on a transgressive mission initiated by the devout Hope: angel hunting.

Trying to get closer to the source that will supposedly grant them freedom, they struggle through their perverse family dynamics before they can find their moment of salvation to grow wings, in particular after Hope seizes the opportunity to address Derek’s brain-deadening addiction that has pushed the talkative horse into the realm of nothingness.

The tongue-in-cheek radio show reflects on oral history in a broad sense, as well as on varying discourses of belief and devotion—whether they appear in the form of Christian virtues and vices, as configurations of ideology and wisdom in popular music and culture, or in the shape of contemporary convictions of the potential of mind-altering substances.

Alexander Iezzi’s practice is conceived through the transformation of materials into scenes, figures, sound and moving images to enter the surreal. The work begins with auditory and visual settings, in which experiments can be improvised and performed, to be reconfigured into artworks later. Iezzi collects and repurposes these materials, sounds and music (sometimes including protagonists, such as his peers or plush animals) in order to poke holes into the typical ways in which psychology, identity, and politics may be perceived.

Iezzi’s work fluctuates between sculptural installations, video, radio, and live performance. Over the last few years – whether solo or with collaborators such as composer Billy Bultheel or Omsk Social Club – he has performed or exhibited at CTM Festival (Berlin), MoMA (New York), the Kunstinstituut Melly (Rotterdam), Galerija Močvara (Zagreb), and Galleri Syster (Luleå, Sweden) but crucially, outside of institutions as well, allowing free-range conditions for the work to wander. He grew up in Tucson, Arizona, USA, and is nowadays based in Rotterdam and Berlin.

Active since 2006 with multiple projects, evolved in countless DIY or festival performances & putting out a handful of hardline releases, on their latest project 'Kleis' out in May via Gin&Platonic, the Saint-Etienne based musician and respected performer Amédée De Murcia alias 'Somaticae' examines the disturbing concept of dichotomy, fundamentally shaping the world around us.

Being a follow-up to his noise, electronica and techno-oriented past releases via Brainstorm Lab, Lost Dogs ent. or In Paradisum, Kleis (meaning key in ancient greek) offers two iterations (the third is a cassette-only bonus) of an epic and raw, yet genuinely fluid sonic riddle. Composed and recorded during 2020 in Lyon, Kleis is a rebus encrypted with grubby drums, entangled irregularly like sonic tentacles of an octopus, unpredictably rolling on tossed with the cold streams of sharp noises. „The symbolism of the key has a double connotation since it has the power to open and close. It commands access to a place, inside a box, and to an acquaintance. Conversely, it can forbid this same access, so the key has both a role of initiation and discrimination,“ says Amédée.

After making waves in Seoul with her all-female DJ collective and her multimedia artwork, Arexibo is releasing her debut EP as a producer. 카운터! (Counter!) works upon her proven dancefloor sensibility, weaving in contemplative moments of ambient, minimal electronica alongside bold melodies and luscious synthwave.
Made by connecting and extending virtual synthesizers, this slippage between quiet granular textures, pretty icy minimalism and moments of musical extroversion frenetic rhythmic scenes are at the centre of 카운터! (Counter!). While tracks such as 쌍둥이자리 Gemini are frantic and trance-inspired, fin glides with the symphonic ease of an early Boards of Canada track. On 3, she creates a sense of nightmarish, childlike weirdness, recalling compositions by the 20th-century minimalists. In 𓆉))))   𓆉))), Sci Fi soundscapes meet obscure tuning systems.

“’Counter’ is a word that presupposes a pair,” says Arexibo, “and it also implies a balance of power. When a force of similar size pulls each other in opposite directions, the two are temporarily placed at a standstill. My attitude of producing and creating is no different from this balancing act.”

The release of 카운터! (Counter!) is accompanied by a music video for 𓆉))))   𓆉))), directed by Arexibo, a simple but moving single shot which recalls the early screen tests of Andy Warhol. “Through a high-speed photo shoot that borrowed the typical form of portrait photography, I thought ‘How about the audience stay at the vague boundary between pictures and videos for a while?’” says Arexibo of the video. A mixed-media artist based in Seoul, Arexibo explores the relationship between image and actuality through camera images and sound. She is a quarter of the female DJ crew ‘BAZOOKAPO Seoul’, who organise music events in Seoul. As a musician, Arexibo concentrates on the ‘floor’ as a fluidic space, full of politics. She has been featured in Mixmag Korea and OBEY Korea. 카운터! (Counter!) is her first solo release as a producer.
