I used to think I was going to be 25 married with kids. I honestly tried to approach everyone I ended up talking with seriously like they could possibly be my last person ever. But eventually you are left with the lesson instead . Either it's for a lifetime or a lesson. I was a Hopeless Romantic, but I am a Hopeless Romantic No More. 

Hopeless Romantic (No More)

I wrote this song June 6 of last year 2024, back when I was just making a transition from poetry, to rap, and also just starting to flirt with singing and R&B as well. At the time, the songs were very much so introspective and vulnerable, as was true for my poetry. Having the Clinical Mental Health Counseling background that I do, once I realized my purpose for music, I knew that I would want to, and be responsible for, spreading those messages and telling the sides of reality in a digestible way. 

This song takes about the traumas, scars, and life experiences that have an impact on us, and the ways we knowingly, an unknowingly cope. I can say that at the time I noticed that instead of confronting the things that affected me, I would use weed, and other distractions to “continue through”. We all have our “addictions” in this life, vices, and things that we rely on when we return to a certain mental space. Whether it be drugs, food, sex, social media, a toxic person, there is something that may be unhealthy for us to we return to for a sense of comfort. This song was me making it a known thing that I deal with for myself, so that I can be more self-aware with handling life’s ups and downs as time goes on. 

This file is one of the very first rough drafts of the song that I made, still very fresh into my music journey. I never really returned back to the song because it was something I didn’t really have intentions of releasing, this is when music was simply, therapy. My brother posted his vulnerable perspective recognizing the closing of Men’s Mental Health Month, and said that this song had an influence on him sharing, so I feel it is only right that I share this song, and all its imperfection, awareness, and perspective.
