Volt5000 and I are glad to release today our "Day by Day" album. He came up with an idea about it some time in late January 2022, but we only figured out in early May 2022 how the tracks will be ordered, namely, in reverse order of numbering of the days, from "Day by Day 10" counting down. Our agreement about this album was to work in a (much) higher tempo and in a (more) modern style, and collaborate on compositions that could be described in genre as "symphonic electro house" or "melodic progressive techno". These two labels (our own coinage, we believe - and typical for this album throughout) are the first two appearing after the main genre, "electronic", in all our 10 tracks in the "Day by Day" album. I then had an idea, in early June, that we should close the album with a continuous-set mix that revisits all the tracks, but now in reverse (or, rather, the correct, counting up) order. This was intended as a bonus or surprise or puzzle track (to be listened to as a DJ set) - we are not quite sure what it is... In addition to these overarching or dominating genre descriptors, and as is typical for our earlier collaborations, we also dispersed within our tracks elements and influences from ambient, dance, classical and jazz-fusion, as well as synthpop, electronic or progressive or symphonic rock... We hope you'll enjoy the sound and richness of the album as a whole, with its countdown of tracks/days from 10 to 1 and then reverse back in a continuous-set mix, denoted as "Day by Day 0 (En mouvement)", from 1 to 10 - capturing, perhaps, the omnipresence and wisdom of cycles: in life, in moods, in the universe...

The album contains 11 tracks, ordered in the chronological sequence of having them ready and posted here on SoundCloud. The duration of the album is 1 hour and 18 minutes without the final continuous-set mix as track 11, or 2 hours and 31 minutes including it. It was composed, recorded and mixed, essentially, in the months of May and June 2022 - but a few of the ingredient compositions date earlier, for example, to late January 2022 or even late December 2021  (this can be read for each track, precisely, in its introductory description here on SC)- in MAGIX (by Volt5000) and GarageBand iOS and Logic Pro X (by Alex M): that is, the production time is between 27 December 2021 (the 1st-ordered track, "Day by Day 10") and 27 June 2022 (the last-ordered, 11th track, "Day by Day 0 (En mouvement) - Day by Day Reverse Continuous-Set Mix"). It was released on SoundCloud on 8 July 2022 (together with its last track). The "Day by Day" album is exclusively and freely available - as has been our purpose and habit - only here on SoundCloud.

Day by Day - Volt5000 & Alex M

Volt5000 (@volt5000 and @mgxloop) and I are happy to present here on SC the 1st track, "Day by Day 10", of our new collaborative album "Day by Day" we shall be working on in the next month or two. Our idea is this time to go more into higher tempo, modern synth sounds and rich rhythms, in a genre or style we could preliminarily outline as symphonic electro house or melodic progressive techno. What is typical of our collaborations so far, and will perhaps remain so, is that we insert between the high tempo parts of a composition a lyrical detour of an ambient or slow nature. Volt5000 suggested that we aim at 10 tracks, present them with the same simple artwork cover, but in differing colours, and call them all "Day by Day", with a number decreasing from 10 to 1 (or 0? - we shall see) in reverse order, and I immediately liked this.

Day by Day 6 - Volt5000 & Alex M

I have always admired music, of diverse styles. Like most of us, I have tried learning to play a few instruments at a basic level in my teenage. But it is only now, in the 21st century, that modern software allows anyone to fool around being the composer, the designer of a whole composition, simpler or more complex, organising together the parts of the various instruments - and to hear the results of this experimentation or inspiration instantly! That is how I have recently begun enjoying the distraction of attempts at composing during my leisure, discovering an amazing dimension of life, and art, perhaps the most intangible, heightening and hypnotising one, and the closest to the soul...
