One Chance Ji

This is a piece of music that I wrote on the guitar sometime in 2017. I decided to record it again with the added cello and release it onto the world.
I recorded it using my Yamaha Revstar standard with P90 pickups, Orange Rockerverb amp model from my Line 6 HX Stomp and played around with the Valhalla Supermassive Plugin.

The Circle of Life

"Pocahontas is, as you might’ve worked out, Neil’s ode to the indigenous Native American Indians and their massacres at the hands of the U.S. cavalry. It’s one of many stellar compositions that clutter the highways and byways of Neil Young’s archives.
The song has its genesis in the early 70s and has been subject to all manner of tunings, keys and arrangements, from solo ham-fisted piano versions to the drop D acoustic ballad that defines its only official releases to date, on 79’s Rust Never Sleeps and on 1993’s MTV Unplugged LP. I love the 12 string version on the latter release."                    Plain or Pan

The three of us keep on collaborating on an album of (re)mixes to appear here on SoundCloud later in 2024. We present another track in it, "Dead Roses". As is our custom so far, Patrick or DjArtw2001 (@djartw2007) took the initiative and (re)mixed in MAGIX on 19 May 2024 parts composed by Dan or DAN-DT (@Dan-T-3) in the past under the title of "Dead Roses" with vocals by Andrew Cole and Chantal Upshaw - to whom we thank sincerely, with (unused or partly used) parts composed by Alex M in July 2021 for a collaboration with Patrick under the title "My Friends" (https://soundcloud.com/alexander-mihailov-96713983/my-friends-roberto-b-alex-m), and parts, effects, arrangements and transitions composed and mixed by DjArtw2001 recently. This new collaboration was posted on SC on 17 September 2024 (by Alex M).

The artwork cover for the track uses an image created by DAN-DT on 7 September 2024 and annotated in Mac OS Preview by Alex M on 12 September 2024 - in coordination and agreement with DjArtw2001 and DAN-DT.

I have always admired music, of diverse styles. Like most of us, I have tried learning to play a few instruments at a basic level in my teenage. But it is only now, in the 21st century, that modern software allows anyone to fool around being the composer, the designer of a whole composition, simpler or more complex, organising together the parts of the various instruments - and to hear the results of this experimentation or inspiration instantly! That is how I have recently begun enjoying the distraction of attempts at composing during my leisure, discovering an amazing dimension of life, and art, perhaps the most intangible, heightening and hypnotising one, and the closest to the soul...
