So the 90s are back, right? With their dreamy deep
atmospheres , their simple house grooves, with samplers
dominating the scene where electronics is mixed up with
samples of acoustic instruments, in an ever serene and
dreamlike mood...
YES, BUT the 90s were something else too! There was
the Bad Masters' techno as well!
Noise like rhythmic scansion, extreme digital modulation,
exasperated editing.
From his huge archives Robotnick fishes out some
experimental techno-house and dub tracks he had fun
producing in the late 90s, while his major creative energy
was turned to ambient and world-music.
Starting with "Science" and "Modulation" - that could be
defined Industrial-techno - and "Tangerine Blob" - a sort
of Goa-Trance -

with a special focus on the 90s.

As a member of W.H. Lung, Tom Sharkett has provided electronics for one of the best bands in the UK, including on their most recent, critically acclaimed LP, ‘Every Inch of Earth Pulsates’. These DIY, indie-oriented experimentations have slowly led Sharkett to unexpected places as a solo artist in club culture, via the portal of Manchester’s legendary venue, The White Hotel, where he was inspired by inspired by cult nights such as Red Lazer and Wet Play, 

Sharkett has since collaborated with artists such as System Olympia and Raf Rundell, as well as appearing on Optimo Music and Okay Nature Records. His subtle, spirited edit of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Home’, released as a bootleg in early 2025, has recently re-emerged on DFA Records as an official release, just in time to become an unusual wistful summer anthem. 

Sharkett captures this fruitful moment in a contribution to Phantasy’s long-running mix series, which features a smattering of currently unreleased material, while bridging Cabaret Voltaire, Slowdive, Eden Burns and even Chappel Roan. True to the eclectic philosophy of Sharkett’s DJ and production trip so far, PHANTASYMIX 53 is a rare trip.

Recorded in a small village on the Costa Brava – surrounded by seagulls, tramontana winds, and sea urchin-covered rocks – this mix comes from the laid-back Barcelona neighbourhood of Gràcia, where Parisian-born Antoine Harispuru, better known as Golden Bug, has made his home.

With a career spanning over fifteen years, Golden Bug has become known for his unique signature: drum machines in a haze of smoke, chopped-up sounds with a machete edge, drenched in delay – a raw, kaleidoscopic patchwork of electronica, dub, and psychedelia.

His work has graced  labels including La Belle Records (his own imprint), Les Disques de la Mort, Höga Nord, Gomma, Multi Culti, and Kompakt. This mix hits as the anniversary edition of Piscolabis II, where Golden Bug teams up once again with artists from around the world to craft a new series of aural excursions. From digital reggae to cinematic electronica with Londoner Simone Butler (of Primal Scream) and Brazilian artist Max Blum, to mutant disco with Franco-Italian musician Kim Giani, via slow-burning, incandescent techno led by the captivating voice of Greek singer Scarlett O’Hanna, and krautrock infused with dub in collaboration with London-based Phoebe Coco. These six tracks offer a bold and refreshing reinterpretation of the original album: a rich, textured sonic journey shaped by diverse and unexpected influences.


 
Among the selections, you’ll find current favouites like SAVE’s Rainy Monday — a digital dub gem from Marc Nguyen’s project on Ivan Smagghe’s Les Disques de la Mort, alongside recent discoveries like Blotter Trax’s Superconductor on Optimo.

Beyond the dance floor, he extends his vision through the Per Amžius Ambient show on Radio Vilnius, blending 90s vibes with modern beats and sharing his distinctive atmosphere with audiences worldwide.

Phil Kieran, our special guest, took on us on a masterclass with an extended set, flowing through different genres including some of his own productions. Dancefloor locked until the very end when the lights went on.

A pioneer of electronic music, Phil has been at the forefront of the underground for over two decades, with releases on some of the most respected labels in dance music (Cocoon, Hotflush, Turbo, Electric Deluxe, Optimo Music, Soma, Hot Creations, Kompakt, and Skint). Alongside his solo work, he also explores a more melodic dimension with his acclaimed Le Carousel project, showing the full depth of his artistry.

It was an honor to have him close the party, such a great musician and person.

Richard Sen, former London graffiti artist and 30-year dance-music maverick, has played everywhere from fetish clubs to festivals worldwide. His genre-fluid sets blend disco, Italo, house, electro, breakbeat and deep techno with unmatched depth and storytelling.
Known for Bronx Dogs and Padded Cell, his music has featured in GTA IV, HBO, and remixes for LCD Soundsystem and Bryan Ferry. His compilations This Ain’t Chicago and Dream The Dream earned major acclaim, the latter winning DJ Mag’s Best British Compilation of 2023.
With a weekly show on Do!! You!!! and his 2024 album India Man, Richard continues to push culture with taste and passion.

One more TB303 based track. Something between
Acid-house and Deep-house.
The original recording dates back to 1995. The bass line
has been recently remade using the real TB303, because
at that time Robotnick used to play mostly digital gear.
2 - Submarine (130 bpm)
It's a kind of Ambient Break-beat. It was originally
composed for a soundtrack in the early 90s. Robotnick
had no9thing but the midi file. All the sounds were
produced last year.
3 - Disco Acha (128 bpm)
This track is quite recent as it dates back to 2008. It
represents Robotnick's renewed interest in Disco music.
Philadelphia strings give "disco flavour" to an electro-bass
groove. The title means nothing . It's a kind of " exercise in
style" but may turn useful for clubs.
4 - Minore Terzo (Electric Prince rmx) 128 bpm
Producers Lia Organa and Electric Prince met in 2006 in
a recording studio. Their passion for music and their
similar influences and style brought them together to
create the project Lia Organa & Electric Prince (LOEP).
Since then they have been producing music together.
