This is a 57 minute DJ mix by Duncan Gray containing all of the tracks from his forthcoming album "Five Fathoms Full" which is released on May 30th 2024

This is DG's 5th album for tici taci and can be loosely described as "Electronic cosmiche dub disco" as all tracks feature dubby guitars, a large array of analogue synths - all recorded as Live audio takes, the so called "rhythms of the night", and more than a whiff of what used be called Kr**tr*ck .

the album will be released exclusively on bandcamp initially and will be available for a reasonable sum of money on Friday 31st May 2024

Will You joins the roster of Philipp Priebe’s Stólar this February with his ‘Is It 2 Late?’ EP accompanied by remixes from Lb Honne and Orion. Producer, DJ and Oleeva Records label boss Will You has been slowly unveiling his take on contemporary deep house and dub-tinged techno over the past few years via solo material and remixes on his own imprint and most recently a remix of Philipp Priebe’s ‘Movements In An Empty Department Store’ on Stólar. Here we see Will You returning to the latter aforementioned imprint with his latest EP. Leading the release is ‘Santé’, a six and a half minute excursion through snaking sub bass tones, a crisp, shuffled rhythm section, dreamy synth chimes, squelchy 303 licks and spoken word vocal lines. Title-cut ‘Is It 2 Late’ follows next and deviates into more dubbed out territory via expansive, unfurling echoes, cinematic atmospherics and robust, intricate percussion. Opening the flip-side is Zurich’s Lb Honne’s interpretation of ‘Is It 2 Late’, the Project Indigo artist extracts the essence of the original and reshapes it into a subtly nuanced, loop-led and hypnotic workout. Italian duo Orion then conclude the package with their take on ‘Santé’, reshaping the original with their signature deep techno style, fuelled by grainy textural components and bumpy saturated drums.

German dj-producer Mathias Modica aka Kapote is no new name for those into electronic music for a while. He used to dj and produce by the name of Munk and co-running Gomma label back in the days.

It's one thing to make a name by yourself in the scene, it's another story to survive into a very competitive environment, always hungry for new flesh to eat, and reinvent yourself !

Mathias funded Toy Tonics in 2012 and slowly to slowly managed to make it a staple in the house music scene (while Gomma was more of an indie dance, pop, disco & electroclash kind of mixture) with releasing tirelessly new fresh stuffs. Hard work paid off as Toy Tonics became a brand in itself, making parties absolutely everywhere in Europe and beyond with numerous residents such as Kapote himself, Sam Ruffillo, Barbara Boeing, Stump Valley etc...

As producer, Kapote just released his new album "Para Mytho Disco" early april and if you read this on time, he's on duties tonight at Infamous Rex Club in Paris with Gee Lane & Fimiani for another TT party!

Moreover by 2020, the average age in India will be 29 and it is set to become the world’s youngest country with 64% of its population in the working age group.

This indicator points to the widespread vitality of Indian culture in all art field such as cinema, music, design and architecture.
A large young population also means the entertainment industry is rapidly developing and dance music plays a major role in it as the natural social aggregator.
Clubbing is booming everywhere , first of all in the big cities and then also in smaller ones. Numerous festivals , often very well organized, pop up ; many young musicians are active in the field of electronic music. 

Indian TechExpress is a sample from the future of electronic dance music. You won't find much "Indian sound" in it , as traditionally defined. Paradoxically you'll find more Africa in it. Indian youths look at the world and Africa seems to attract them more than their own music tradition. Most of them are young artists , some actually very young, and very well represent a movement that is developing in the fascinating and creative chaos that contemporary Indian society is.

Cement, one of the  best friends of the modern era is showing its limits.
Do you remember the fantastic architecture portrayed by  comics in the 60s, with cities raising to amazing heights , overhanging bridges connecting towers....Well, forget it.
Cement doesn't seem to be reliable in the long run. What a shame, it was such a beautiful dream, a dream called cement.
Alexander Robotnick & Ludus Pinsky once again together with their  Italcimenti project introduce  this EP containing 4 tracks:

3 - Step by Step
4 - Unavoidable Crash

It's a kind of Post-Italo stuff. 
1 In "A Dream Called Cement" an Italo sequence-riff challenges a suspended pad: it's like opposing  the appeal of cement to the entropy of time.
2 "Suspended City" is a tribute to our imagination. Maybe  progress has slowed down a bit..;) But we still keep those  dreams firmly  in our mind.
3 "Step by Step" is built around a fragment of a dialogue: "Everything 's gonna be all right" - "Oh...I know you) It points to some responsibilities or at least carelessness whose consequences are emerging today.
4 In "Unavoidable Crash"a very fast arpeggio draws the fragments of instability produced by an unstable planet. Chords spring out  suddenly, acting like an alarm and creating tension until the groove is back and  the dream goes on.

A Dream Called Cement

It’s high time for seasoned Alexander Robotnick to tackle an Italian classic: The Four Seasons ….before seasons are definitely wiped out by the dramatically famous climate change. We grew up with a sort of mantra that went: “Seasons are no longer the same…” , a mantra that existed even before we were born. But Winter is still Winter and Robotnick’s desire has always been that of a Winterless year. The Four Seasons represents a sort of wishful thinking (by contrast).
Four ultra classic titles : Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. All of these tracks (apart from Winter) share the same origin: : they are born out of three very fast arpeggioes (32mi) where the note sequence is so quick it almost sounds like a continuous chord.
Impressionist music , without any real theme (except for Fall). Deep House that never falls into style clichés . No parallel harmonies, no one key chords, but a seamless flow that opens into modal scales and finally chill-out listening . Only in Fall the arpeggio sometimes tends to reveal itself , grows frenzied and introduces a somewhat
melancholic theme.
Fall has always been an intense and creative time for Robotnick , animated by a powerful energy flow, probably
to exorcise Winter which is looming on the horizon. In Winter the arpeggio is replaced by a sample from Wagner’s Master Singers that creates a music background with a meditative pace despite the pressing rhythmics.

Alkemya (1997) was a trio of musicians tired of spending hours sitting in front of the PC to democratically decide the direction to follow. They therefore decided to turn back to improvisation yet without giving up the opportunities provided by the use of the computer. Thanks to technology it is possible to see and edit the result of a real interaction among musicians on the computer screen.
So, Alkemyas music is substancially "live-performed", it’s a reaction against the unbearable coldheartedness of so much electronic music, generated exclusively by the process of superimposing and editing different tracks.

It can't be classed in a specific genre, fluctuating among ambient music, electronic music, trance and sampledelic music.

SAAZ AND VOICE (Nazar - Kurdistan - Iraq) : this is an Oriental lute with strings producing  a very open and distinctive  sound. Some keys are at the interval of a fourth of tone according to the tradition of a large region that includes the Middle East and part of the Mediterranean. The tunes that Nazar sings and plays are very ancient but sound extremely lively even to our modern ears.
KEYBOARDS (Maurizio Dami - Firenze - Italy): they represent the “primordial soup”, the sound of “reality as it is”, unaffected by history and culture. They provide the “glue” and  create the environment where  tunes can swim like fish in the water.
KEYBOARDS and VOCAL (Smail Kouider Aissa, Algeria) : They represent the dialogue amongst different Mediterranean cultures and the gateway to the Arab world. Smail comes from Algerian Rai.
TABLAS ( Arup Kanti Das, Rashmi v. Bhatt, India): the most typical and universally famous Indian percussions need no further presentation. Due to their precise tuning they are not only rhythmic but also harmonic instruments.
