Continuing the vibe set in motion by number 003, and in a timely shift away from the elevated tempos of the club, Startree slows it down just a bit more for its fourth go-round, raising its sonic ceiling 
and lowering its floor.  The sensuous, broad-minded sound on offer here is the brainchild of one Mr. Eugene Tambourine, a name one can expect to be hearing a lot more from in coming months, given his 
distinct, energetic-yet-calming amalgam of musical delicacies, perfect for these shifting times.

“A Rising Sign“ somehow recalls salsa without using any drums, as it does house music without employing a kick.  Don’t ask how, just let it groove and try to figure out why your ass wants to move despite the absence of almost all of the hallmarks of today’s “dance music”.  All except for the outsize bassline which holds it all down firmly to the floor while playful electric piano chords punctuate and add
blocks of color to a an idyllic soundscape animated by cascading chimes, glockenspiel, bell, synth and zither.  This is a warm, sonic bath you’ll no doubt wish lasted longer.  

“Le Lagon Noir” began for Eugene as an instrumental rendition of Laurie Anderson’s “Blue Lagoon” but is, here, reincarnated in the form of a louche, mystical, serpentine groove which wouldn’t sound out of place at an aquatic rollerdisco.  Its lyrics have been revived, translated into French and voiced by the inimitable Camille Vourzay in her smoldering, dusky spoken tones.  Bright and mysterious synth textures wash the rich, mid-tempo jam in a lunar haze while pattering percussion adds earth to compliment the water.

“Keep my Light” beautifully reframes a lyrical reference to the pop-gospel standard “I’ll Keep my Light in my Window” within a deceptively empty-yet-full bed of softly-rendered drum machine 
programming and shimmering metallic textures.  Its wistful synth work hits that ever-elusive, melancholic 
magic spot between loneliness and abundant love.

Eugene's composition "Love Is On The One (No Rues It's True)" concludes the record, bringing the sentiment back home to where the heart is.  Yevhen Bubon's vocals lead this softly jubilant celebration of a bond between souls.  Using a palette which suggests both Logg and Larry Heard and lyrics which may provoke a tear, this is space-y, groove-laden music for both earthly and cosmic lovers alike.

Startree is delighted to present Eugene’s unique sound to the world as a continuing statement of its musical intentions and its simple desire to inspire and have a good time.

Dutch psych-musicians Jacco Gardner and Nic Mauskovic create a new take on no-wave, post-disco with their debut LP as Bruxas, Muscle Memory. It’s their third work for the Dekmantel label, following up earlier EPs Mas Profundo (2017) and Sirocco (2018). Immersing themselves in a world of bohemian synth, the duo experiment with vintage machines and cosmic effects, swimming in rhythmic grooves and psychedelic tones. It’s a style that reflects their respective musical backgrounds, and long partnership, one in which that has strengthened their collaborative, musical muscle memory.
After playing together in the revival tour for Zamrock band WITCH, Gardner and Mauskovic struck up a partnership centred around poolside antics, cocktail hours, and a mutual love for late-60s, German kosmische musik. Through their particular style of alchemy, the duo embarked on a quest to craft soundtracks to imaginary, forgotten moments.

‘Cógelo, Rápido’ plays out like a pseudo-disco-noire thriller, while ‘Mountain Cruise’ strums to an upbeat Jodorowsky beat, and then ‘Minitrip’ accompanies the listener through psychedelic planes of existence. Unsurprising then that there is a little bit of Patrick Cowley in this record. A pioneer whose own Muscle Up soundtracks also lent themselves to leftfield synth explorations.

Outside of Bruxas, Gardner and Mauskovic have both found success with their respective careers. Gardner, with his unique take on experimental synth work, and Mauskovic’s rhythmic post-punk, solo-project The Mauskovic Dance Band. Together as Bruxas, they found a synergy full of youthful exuberance that looks to recapture a vintage left-of-centre, wave-scene aesthietc. Recorded on a minimalist setup, Muscle Memory is full of improvisation and psychedelic sound experimentation, proving that with time the subconscious can take over, creating patterns within music that the conscious mind would have otherwise been unable to perform. What one would call, true Muscle Memory.

The situation was critical, the information rogue. Instead he would now choose to lose himself in the darkness of the night, wandering between the trees, amidst their towering might and wise presence. He found himself at home in the forest, it was here in which his imagination could run wild and free without the constraints of others. A total recall into isolation and the abyss. 

Lord Of The Isles has announced the release of a stunning new collection of tracks on his own recently launched new imprint, Dusk Delay. The record features long form ambient excursions which leave the listener lost in a magical place. This track "Recall" is a favourite.

Soundtrack of the homonymous video-installation produced in September '86 for the "Arte degli Ambienti" Festival in Pantelleria. Later it was staged also in Firenze (October '86), Perugia (April '87) and finally in Palermo (June '87, part of the collective exhibition "Per amor del Cielo" at the Modern Art Gallery).
The installation is a ever-changing landscape of memories dedicated: 
"...to the black island, where a beloved shipwrecked friend, after having suffered for long time has been turned into a fish”.

The theme of the work is the shipwreck in all of its allegorical meanings. Mixing music, electronic images, voices, scenographic materials, GMM re-proposes the poetic reconstruction of a seascape populated by fishermen, castaways, wrecks, hallucinated backgrounds.

Traditional Heart“ is the second album by Gianni Brezzo - the band or the studio project – of the Cologne-based musician Marvin Horsch. 

The title is by no means to be understood in the sense of an authenticity pathos à la love in times of Tinder, but addresses the process of musical production itself. 

Says Brezzo: “This time the process of making music was more important than the product. Not to allow even a thought regarding the effectiveness of the music; pick up the instrument on impulse and put it away again; record again. Finding a rhythm during the process. At home.”
