Dean Rodney, 24, is the mastermind behind the Dean Rodney Singers project. In 2009, he wrote a song called Dean Rodney Singers M.I.M.I. The song expressed his vision of a global band made of 72 artists with and without disabilities working together.

 Since then his vision has expanded and he has created a whole fantasy world made of unique characters and creatures who live in seven dimensions. It is this world that the band came to life through music, film, dance and video.

 Dean has an interesting view on the world, which is informed by his autism.  This project makes it possible for Dean to share his way of seeing the world. He wants to invite people in and make sure they have fun there.

 Dean is the rapper, co-songwriter and front man of The Fish Police. Mixing rap, funk and punk they’ve created a unique sound with an urban edge. Rapping since the age of 12, music is Dean’s passion. His tastes are eclectic; he cites Will Smith, Kraftwerk and Daft Punk as key musical influences. Dean has a vivid imagination and his ideas form the basis of the group’s songs. He’s also a big fan of fast food, video games and cartoons; he named the group after one of his favourites, The Fish Police.

 Another key influence on Dean is his love for Japan. He loves everything Japanese including the food, films and manga cartoons. His passion for the culture resonates through many of the group’s songs. Dean is also a self confessed internet geek and when he’s not creating music, he’s catching up on Facebook, checking out films and videos on YouTube, watching martial arts  or creating his own films on his computer tablet.
