Producer, DJ, label owner and promoter, Alexander Koning, can boast quite a standing in the contemporary world of electronic music. Since Koning’s initial introduction to house and techno in the late eighties, he’s come a long way and seen his own material released with many reputable imprints in the industry such as Global Underground, Pacha, Bellboy, Circle ,Subliminal etc etc . 

Koning caught the electronic music bug after spending his youth attending underground illegal raves at abandoned warehouses and various locations across his home turf of Holland. This soon led to a desire for Alexander to host his own events, teaming up with friend Michel Becks for a string of small parties in their hometown under the name ‘Eye On The Future’, after great success things blossomed and soon saw a venue change to accommodate its following and the welcoming of internationally renowned artists headlining the events. The likes of Adam Beyer, Joel mull, Marc Romboy, Ben Sims, Valentino kanzyani , Martin Eyerer, Einmusik and Chris Liebing to name a few all  graced the decks for the the first time in Holland on Eye on the future , and eventually the prosperity of the parties led to a nomination for ‘Best Dutch Organization’ in 1998. To this date Alexander is still throwing successful parties  and continually keeping things exciting with fresh names being brought to Holland with every step forward.

Alexander can also boast a reputable presence on the DJ circuit himself, having played gigs at some of the globes leading nightclubs such as Watergate, Katerholzig,Sisiphos, Paradigm, Radion, Thuishaven Suicide Circus, Ministry Of Sound, the late Turnmills, Awakenings , Doka,Melkweg, Paradiso etc etc and the Dance v
Valley, Sunrise, Wooferland, 5 days off, Loveland Festivals (this is just a little summary of which clubs and festivals he played). 
His djing took him to  a lot of countries worldwide like Sweden, Hungary, Bosnia, Ukrain, Russia, Belgium, Croatia, England and Germany to name a few.
This stands as testament to Koning’s ability as a DJ amongst other skills. Now at this present date, after a five-year hiatus due to health issues, Koning is back in full force delivering more of his classy house and techno grooves via [Percep-tion]. Hosting label showcases at one of Berlin’s leading club spaces Katerholzig and Sisyphos and at Amsterdam’s Doka, Radion and Stalker.

As [Percep-tion] continues to grow we’ll see Koning delve deeper into his experimentation between art and music, fusing the two through record sleeves and homemade art. While also working alongside friend and production partner Andy Slate under the ‘Distorted Beauty’ guise, the material of which has already been snapped up by the likes of ViVa Music, Tonkind and Tulipa, again a telling sign of the creativity that continually flows and never falters through this impressive talent.

I've been listening to electronic music since I was old enough to tune into the John Peel show on Radio 1. Peel first introduced me to Chicago House, Detroit Electro and Rap. I would listen to an entire show with my finger hovering over the record button of my 'tape-recorder' close to the radio speaker just to record whatever 3 electronic imports he would play each night. I wish I'd kept those recordings.
From the moment I first heard 'Roxanne Shante' I sought out everything I could ranging from Kraftwerk, Mike Oldfield, Kurtis Mantronik, Africa Bambata, Grandmaster Flash, Gorgio Morodor, Axel-F, Jean Michel Jarre and just about anyone who used a synth to make music! With the arrival of House in the mid-late 80's the likes of Marshall Jefferson, Frankie Knuckles, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Steve Silk Hurley, Adonis and many more American underground House producers, the music had developed into a new, seriously exciting phenomena.
Music progressed at pace with House and Acid imports driving change, the UK in particular underwent an epiphany of sorts in the 80's and 90's. From Break-Dancing to New Romanticism, the music developed, finally morphing into the early genres of Acid Trance, Techno and Progressive Trance. Heavily influenced by American and underground Dutch and German artists and with the advent of clubbing and non-speaking mixing DJ's, it opened up a Pandora's box of new music, influences, sounds and styles. What that amounted to for me (and most others like me) was an ever-growing range of electronic music that was continually breaking free from pigeon-holes and mainstream pop culture. Electronic music had become the new classical music of a generation.
I can only say that electronic or computer music has evolved beautifully in the past 40 years and I love it as much now as the day I first heard John Peel play fantastic American imports.
I'm not anything more than a bedroom DJ and electronic music enthusiast. I have the greatest admiration for those who DJ publicly and seek to build a following or career from DJing, but that’s not a path I’ve tried to follow. I do love to put together great tunes, so for me using this sort of platform for sharing music is perfect for me. I do mixes both on my decks and using Ableton, as sometimes I find it easier to create a journey through that medium. 
As for making music, I’m slowly finding my way around Ableton in order to bring life to the musical ideas rolling around my head.
