Sounds of the Week - Urban Sounds #3

Buses are a very common means of transportation in students' lives. This time, resisting the temptation to put on headphones and "hide" the noise, I decided to record the sound of my trip. You can hear the engine loudly in the city's stop-and-go traffic, the slamming of the brakes, the shrill siren of the doors opening and closing, and, inevitably, the unmistakable "pirú" indicating the arrival of new travel companions.

I put the washing machine on and noticed that although a little inconsistent, there was a rhythm.

The water resonates in quantity, soaking the clothes, the metal drum spins, agitating them. Despite the constant sound of the machine, this is strongly broken by moments of pause (I suppose strategic to the washing mode) allowing you to hear the outside sounds of the laundry room, such as dogs and birds.

During the sound walk, I recorded an interaction with the bamboo canes in the Botanical Garden. I noticed the timbre of the individual echoes resonating within them,thus relating a natural element to a musical note. I decided to create simple rhythms, discovering the musicality of each cane.

My Dawn project is the result of an imaginative recreation based on a true story: the dynamics of a couple's dawn routine, inspired by my parents.

I wanted to create the duality of an early riser (my mother), who wakes up spontaneously, goes through her morning routine, and leaves home for work with the roosters crowing, and a sleepyhead (my father), who, groggy and forced to wake up, only gets up after the alarm clock rings.
This sleeper became my listening point, since the sound dynamics (volume, panning) change around this fixed point.

I intended to recreate an ambient sound reminiscent of a village, including church bells (simultaneously giving the listener a sense of temporal location), and animal sounds that I recorded directly from my balcony.
