Here's our 4th edition of Appreciation Chamber which champions mixes from artists, mix series and radio stations that have and continue to inspire us.

When we thought of turning this space into an access point for our audience to become acquainted with the immense contingent of fresh names doing fantastic things at the moment, it stemmed from the feeling of deeply missing one of the most cherished elements of our physical events: the future-nurture rooms where the public could get to know them face to face and enjoy their creations. That environment was special to us because there we could provide the kind of care all talent needs in order to blossom, an opportunity to showcase the tomorrow of our scene. However, since our physical manifestations are impossible at the moment, we decided to bring this dear endeavour of ours into the online realm and make an open call for mixes. And of course we expected it to garner some attention, but the response surpassed our wildest expectations, giving us not only a rewarding idea of how much we are trusted, but especially a good glimpse of what a fantastic new generation of selectors is out there, ready to be discovered by the public. Kickstarting these special series, we are happy to present a wonderful selector whose musical offering took us on such an enthralling ride that we felt compelled to share so you can all enjoy it:  Apartamento 21 resident and Bongosynth affiliate Mary Roman.

Thomas Roland and James Weissinger, resident DJs for fifteen years and counting at MAKING TIME, Philadelphia's never-ending nightlife institution. Since the 2019 release of their EPs Black Cat (Optimo Music) and She Takes NRG (Ivan Smagghe’s Les Disques de la Mort), the Zillas have been busy building a steady catalog of EPs, tracks, and remixes for labels like Polari, Nocturne, Dischi Autunno, Inside Out, Multi Culti, Throne of Blood, Microdosing, and more. Along the way, they’ve garnered support from futuristic fellow travelers like Roman Flügel, Dixon, Jennifer Cardini, Justin Strauss, Bradley Zero, Sean Johnston, and many others. Deep in the studio or out in the club, the Zillas mix slow-motion death disco, dubbed-out drum machine music, and of course ACID to excite party people from all planets.

With a lengthy DJ history spanning over two decades, Art Jefferson continues to bring cutting edge sounds of various genres, spearheading distinct vibes and creating an exciting listening experience for crowds. He has produced a number of radio shows, 
introducing audiences to acts across the globe, all with the same intentiion as his job behind the decks - to foster a specific mood of audible pleasure. 

As a writer and music journalist he has covered and interviewed various artists / producers spanning a multitude of genres. Whether covering a post-punk band from London, a U.S.
chart-topping artist, or a German electronic outfit, Art Jefferson’s ear for groundbreaking acts has made him a  modern day tastemaker. He contributed to Lukasz Polowcyzk’s latest book ‘Aint About Me’.

Art Jefferson’s approach to photography is no different having shot music, fashion, as well as cultural and political journalism. His work ‘Village People’, documenting the modern cultural shift of Dulwich Village, exhibited in London.

The element of style is something that yet again, plays a piece of the overall puzzle. 
Inspired by everything from 50s rock & roll to late 60s proto-punk, on down to 70s soul and even glam, there is always the embedding of culture and the sonics behind the eras that factor into Art Jefferson’s inspiration behind his delving into the world of fashion.
