Watching Dead Empires in Decay’, an album recorded under another of Kirby’s pseudonyms ‘The Stranger’ and released on Modern Love, a label that has been close to Kirby through these last eventful 15 years. It’s a dream album for the label: perhaps the most ambitious of Kirby’s career so far. It’s complex, singular, enigmatic, percussive, dark, and you just can’t work out how it was constructed.

Gone are the sampled 78’s of The Caretaker, but it also doesn't exactly sound electronic - you just can’t quite fathom how any of it was put together: Field Recordings? Found Sounds? Sheets of metal scraped and hammered? Drum machines re-wired? It’s stark and unsettling, haunted, even troubling - but often just beautiful.

Black Stage of Night is the result of a year of nightly studio sessions, again in the company of the trustworthy lantern. Two Swedes, separated by the Atlantic Ocean and united in their vision to create an album that invokes the dream state.

Crooked tape loops combine with piano and acoustic resonances. A melancholic, dusty and timeless album that grows and pulsates.

The Great Order of Things

Alphaxone, ProtoU and Onasander join forces on Shadows of Forgotten Legends. Ancient behemoths lurk in black waters on this sub-ambient album.

According to Nordic legends, the Kraken was a mythological creature that was terrorizing sailors from Greenland to Norway. By emerging from deep sea, the giant beast was shattering vessels with huge tentacles and devouring entire crews.

"Shadows of forgotten legends" draws a new sonic path to invoke this ancient Scourge of the Seas, awakening it from deep sleep.
