S:S 015 is here with a heavy trip from Ukrainian DJ/Producer @shjva.

Quickly making waves with a notable output of unique and fresh productions, straddling the fringes of IDM, Techno and Trance, Shjva has understandably turned a lot of heads in the last few years. 

Relocating to the Polish city of Warsaw 7 years ago from her native Ukraine she started the Penumbrum Radio show, later growing to a party collective and label with other local like minds joining, which then saw her put out a slew of music, playing live sets and DJing frequently in Berlin and across Europe.  It didn't take long for the network to expand to these shores with friendships and links being made with our crew and some of our extended family, realising EP's and mini albums on both People & Places and Common Ancestors. 

Desperate to bring her over to the UK, complications with visa's have unfortunately scuppered any attempts for the moment. For now we have a beautiful mix that she's skilfully crated for us that perfectly illustrates her sound and gives you a little snippet into the mind of Shjva.

Tankwart hails from the basement. The place where it can get beautifully cold and dark when being on your own, or warm and sweaty when dancing with friends. The place where social media lose reach and the reverb sounds so nice. You‘ll find him in his studio: a big mess that fosters his DIY production style. His musical interest starts when genres blend and punk is an approach. Wave, Triphop, Acid, Kosmische Musik. No cliches, blurred lines only.

@aliciacarrera has been quietly working away in the underground for a number of years. She is Barcelona based after a spell in Berlin, and is a multi-disciplinary talent who works as a graphic artist, photographer and editorial designer all while managing the cult Hivern Discs label and (in other times) spinning weird and wonderful DJ sets all round Europe. She has a penchant for sounds that come from opposite ends of the spectrum - colourful and psychedelic, dark and experimental, slow and cosmic or more hard and techno - and hearing her join these up is always a thing to behold, as are her radio shows for the likes of NTS Radio amongst others.

This week, no doubt mindful of the fact many of us are spending most of our time at home, she takes on a far-flung journey through mid tempo grooves and cinematic sounds. It's a mind-expanding trip that opens with worldly ambiance and takes you through a number of wide open spaces littered with sombre trumpets, gently tumbling jazz drums and cosmic drones. It's pensive and absorbing as it slowly shifts through the gears, and is a perfect catalyst for escapism.

After stumbling into some fluoro drapes and mad psychedelic music somewhere in a field around 93, the path to becoming a Goa Trance DJ was inevitable.
Before the turn of the millenium and after having lived the dream, I realized there was maybe a bit more to life and sailed towards a different journey. Meeting many friendly music heads along the way who always helped broaden my horizons... Spinning round the block and back a few times... Carrying on my mission to spread the music or the word, I eventually came back to the sound of my youth and gave it a new twist. 
In life, things always come Full Circle and you will find a good representation of that here… 
Been trying to slow things down as much as I can in these modern days where we all live in the fast lane!
