After its outstanding reception following its initial release back in January, Wankelmut & Emma Louise's infectious single - 'My Head Is A Jungle' returns with a souped up package and is set to be released worldwide on 15TH September via Positiva. Heavily supported by BBC R1's Pete Tong, 'My Head Is A Jungle' was dubbed his 'Essential New Tune' back in February as well as receiving championing support from BBC R1's tastemaker Annie Mac. It comes as no surprise that the single is already platinum in Italy, top 30 in Germany (and rising) and top 5 airplay in South Africa!

Wankelmut who has mainly been deejaying in underground clubs in Berlin such as Sisyphos and MIKZ, became 'Newcomer of the Year' last year (GROOVE Magazine) and has been in high demand as both DJ and Remixer ever since. Wankelmut has a very entertaining and well crafted way of deejaying with a huge variety of styles from Deep House to Techno. Beside playing all over Europe he remixed Gossip, Jay Haze, Lukas Graham and various other underground records which established his status within the Techno House Scene. On his 24th birthday in December 2011 Wankelmut aka Jacob Dilßner uploaded his unofficial remix for Asaf Avidan's "Reckoning Song' to Soundcloud. More than one year later the now official remix has sold 1.3 Million copies on Sony/Columbia, scored over 100 Million Youtube Plays and entered the #1 spot in 8 european countries, as well as being the best-selling track on Beatport last year.

In cooperation with the talented Australian singer Emma-Louise, the duo deliver a finely tuned piece of melodic brilliance. Wankemut's faultless Tech-house production, and Emma-Louise's blissful vocals will have you instantly hooked and will be circling around your head for days to come. In addition to the supreme remix package from Gui Boratto, Kasper Bjorke and Solee, new remixes come from Friend Within, and Marc 'MK' Kinchen, who steps up to deliver one of his much loved MK edits which premiered last Friday on Pete Tong.

On the back of a stunning EP for Defected’s sister label DFTD, emerging UK artist Cristoph takes it up a notch with his ‘Shelter’ EP, the double-thick 4-tracker prime and ready to smack the dancefloor right between the eyes. 
London, Bristol and Manchester may be famed for their iconic dance scenes, but the UK’s north-east continues to be a hotbed for unearthing exciting electronic music talent.  

One artist adding to the vibrant growing scene around the Tyneside, in Cristoph. Although active in his native Newcastle and beyond, with key gigs in iconic Geordie hotspots such as Digital and Loop, including a support slot alongside Waze & Odyssey that still gets spoken about till this day, it’s his slowly growing arsenal of heavy-hitting house cuts, that’s causing a torrent of support from the industry’s most respected artists. 

Just released on hyped sub-label of Defected DFTD (that recently issued cuts from Guti, among others) his ‘Guffaz’ EP has been causing a stir across dancefloor in Ibiza and beyond, with early support from Steve Lawler, who’s been smashing it at his VIVa Warrios residency at Sankeys Ibiza, along with Hot Since 82, Deetron, Catz ‘N Dogs and highly rated rising stars Dale Howard, DeMarzo and Him_Self_Her. 

His versatility as a producer also bore a remix of hip hop outfit Big Beat Bronson’s ‘New Me’ which B-Traits picked up and played on her BBC Radio 1 show, proving Cristoph’s skills extend beyond club-moving beats. 

His piece-de-la-resistance however, is his latest EP ‘Shelter’ due for release on Underground Audio, the home label of the likes of the hugely touted Finnebassen and recent BBC Radio 1 ‘Future Star’ DeMarzo. 

The four-track collection oozes class rarely seen from an artist so fresh on the scene. The title track ‘Shelter’ hits hard with thudding kicks and bass that build towards a heavy drum workout interchanged with dynamic vocal and synth drops that keep the energy flowing throughout, before steamrolling towards a pumping finish. 

‘Purvy’ is driven by lashing of low-slung bass, yearning vocals and funky claps and takes the EP in an undeniable groove-smacked ‘90s house direction with delightful, grin-inducing results.

‘Tell Me’ is the most intricate of the quartet; deep with understated tribal undertones, it shines of Cristoph’s versatility as a producer, as rolling murky sonics percolate underneath layers of bass and whispered vox, which drop into a melody-laded tech house workout more intent on building atmosphere than busting any dancefloor bollocks. 

The EP is rounded out by ‘Move on’, a cut that will have you swaying uncontrollably from foot-to-foot with its funky-as-hell bassline, persistent drums and cleverly programmed creeping synth melody that builds to a club-smashing crescendo as the track does exactly what it promises on tin. Outstanding.

Next up on Hot Creations local London hero Alexis Raphael comes to the fore with two original tracks that display the producer’s intricate and diverse underground house style. Tried and tested on a multitude of dancefloors, ‘Into The Light’ is now unleashed to the masses with a quality business remix from the label heads Hot Natured.

‘Into The Light’ has been tantalizing Hot Natured followers since it first entered the sets of Jamie Jones and Lee Foss in the summer of 2011. Restrained and stripped back to the bassline, the moody groove is spliced with vocal snippets and enveloped by shards of eerie FX and murky synth stabs, all leading up to a massive crowd-moving drop and intensified sexy female vocal.

On a totally different tip, ‘I Know’ has a far softer shell, still infused with a pulsing heartbeat but carried by swirls of euphoria and sensual samples. Building up the sonic textures over the melodic bassline, Alexis has created a beautifully spacious yet hands in the air record fit for poolside and terraces.

On remix duty, Hot Natured take the reigns on ‘Into The Light’ throwing characteristic bumps and bleeps into the mix with punchy no-nonsense attitude and that dark sinuous bassline. The Hot Natured duo strikes again with their unfailing ability to inject a dancefloor with signature brooding funk and sex appeal.

A true aficionado of the house scene, Alexis Raphael has been bubbling underground for the past 12 months, fusing funk, soul and sultry vocals with an emblematic club aesthetic. His after-party gem ‘Spaceship’ was swiftly picked up by Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ Hot Waves imprint, flying straight into the Beatport top ten and a consequent release on burgeoning label Lower East ‘Kitchens and Bedrooms’ provided a bona fide summer anthem. Alexis also runs the popular London clubnight Crèche alongside Cozzy D where he holds a residency.

Jamie Jones launches his new subsidiary label of Hot Creations, HOTTRAX with a three track EP of upfront dance floor business. The label will be dedicated to a more underground dance floor orientated aesthetic, only for the headstrong!

 
This three track features phenomenal ‘Change’. Jamie has championed it all summer and as soon as you hear it you’ll realize why. It’s a heady hypnotic brew of oscillator-funk and ghetto-groove, arpeggiating synths bubble hypnotically under the rising ebb and flow of the melody as infectious groove drives you on.. the truth is we are all going through changes!

 
On the flip and Jamie jacks the groove on the ‘Road To The Studio’. Incessant chanting and looped vocals are cleverly layered upon each other creating a impending sense of explosive anticipation as the rhythm effortlessly builds to maximum effect. Finally, the irresistibly charming ‘No Rush’ plays upon retro garage feel while the minor keys serve to create a sense eeriness on the floor. A great closure to a superb three track EP, and what a way to kick off the new label in style. Watch out for HOTTRAX releases in 2013.
