It’s only five months into the year, but 2011 has already marked a revolutionary epoch in the career of Holland’s Alex O’Rion. In that time it’s seen him sign with one of the UK’s foremost DJ agencies, successfully initiate his new radio show/podcast and become head of A&R for Black Hole’s Terminal 4 label. He’s also turned loose the Green and Blue EPs, which form the leading edge of his impressive, wide-scope debut album, “The Bigger Room”.

O’Rion’s unique audio equation first caught the attention of the world’s top-tier of DJs through early audio like “Release the Beast” and “A Box of Fluffy Ducks”. Encouraged from the start by the musically likeminded Richard Durand, he began to lay the foundations for his first long-player and the end result of that building process is released on the 30th of May.

Alex has created 15 tracks to form “The Bigger Room”. Using complex, cutting edge sounds, FX and arrangements, the album is a dynamic longplayer and one that belies his tenderfoot tag. Knowingly multi-toned, O’Rion’s music vibrantly crossbreeds progressive, tech and melodic trance with shades of house, electro and other EDM variants.

“The title is my ‘statement of intent’”, says Alex. “I want to make music that’ll really find its place in larger and larger spaces. To achieve this I concentrate on condensing as many effects as possible, into the audio. I think they combine to ‘fill’ every corner of dance space that they’re played in – all in order to create the ‘bigger room’ effect.”

The album starts in the progressive foothills with the cool-heeled “Dragons for Breakfast”, the moody, atmosphere-packed “Jabberwocky” and the evocative, chiming, almost fairytale-like “Changing Pace”. “Craters of the Moon”, “Jellyfish”, “Stargeezer”, “Gobsmacked” and “Jumper” start to progressively squeeze on the accelerator pedal. Charting a melodic and then euphoric style curve, it adds harmonic sequences, higher paced tempos and ultimately soaring aerodynamic chords and synths to the album’s sound cache.

For his first album Alex has made a point of collaborating with other artists in various different capacities. While not a mainstay, when vocals emerge on ‘Bigger Room’, they carry heavy impact. “Who I Am Today” (featuring the moody, captivating vocals of Cornelis van Dijk) is purpose-built for radio and hints heavy at crossover potential. “Crystal” meanwhile sees him team up with Richard Durand for a track that plays off tech and house themes, while his remixes of Phunklife’s “Maniac Psycho” and Tempo Giusto’s “Metropolitan” tread even further still down those paths.

Ali Wilson returns to Black Hole Recordings with his trademark Tribal trance sound, in the form of a mammoth 21-track compilation. 
You can expect something special from Ali on this 'Tribe-olution' mix, with five exclusive originals of his own whilst finding time to search all four corners of the world for the freshest material. 
Ali says: "The mix was a labour of love, I didn't want it to just be another compilation with tracks made up of Beatport hits, I wanted to give fans something fresh, whilst focusing on delivering a seamless mix at the same time. Listeners can expect a nice progressive tone and then powerful builds into a harder techier dance-floor vibe as you journey throughout the mix." 
Tribe-olution highlights come in the form of a warm proggy opener from Giddy & Jamie K titled 'Veritas'. Followed almost straight after with tech-titillator 'Magnum' from Inge Bergmann Vs. Ramsey Westwood. An attitude filled track titled 'Bounce' by Alex Kunnari. Alongside other notable remixes from Blasterjaxx and Maison & Dragen. 
Whilst Ali himself delivers an aptly named 'Air Raid' which has already seen support from tech-trance heavyweight Markus Schulz. On top of a collaboration with fresh UK talent Chris North titled 'Never Back Down', a perfect peak time tech-trance anthem. The rising UK talent Chris North then goes it alone with prog- tech number 'Tech Effect'.

The philosophy of Stereojackers V Mark Loverush is to work hard, play hard and treat their fans. Which they do by regularly releasing free remixes. A debut album of this team is on it's way.

Shelley Harland is a world-wide chart-topping singer-songwriter-producer with a passion to sing and write music of all flavors. Untrained in music, she discovered these talents while living and working as a private investigator in New York. She picked up a guitar, wrote a few songs and her journey began. Her amazing voice and lyrics have inspired collaborations with artists around the world. She has worked with legends such as John Cale and Larry Klein and has toured with groups including Elvis Costello, The Fray, and Delerium. You can find her on many of her own albums and singles, as well as with artists such as Morgan Page, Guru/Jazzmatazz, Ferry Corsten, Junkie XL, Pole Folder, and many others.

'Like The Sunrise' is another one out of the bucket of great tracks that were on Ad Brown's debut artist album 'Something For The Pain'. On this trancer he collaborates with fellow DJ Steve Kaetzel and songstress Arielle Maren. It's a big release package. Zoo Brazil, Pedro Del Mar & Hoyaa and Terry Da Libra, are all flown in for the remixing. Also included is an extended mix and a dub mix.

Ad Brown is known as a leading light in the British dance music scene, described by DJ Mag as the 'go-to-man' for that progressive enriched trance sound. He has been handpicked to support some of the biggest names in the dance industry such as Calvin Harris and v. Besides the UK, Ad has been touring in India, Indonesia, Russia and all of mainland Europe, smashing the dance floors with his unique sound. In 2013 he released his very first artist album 'Something For The Pain' an ensemble of killer tracks and great collaborations.
Steve Kaetzel went from being a sound designer for video games and short films, to a well-known name in the electronic music industry. He got his first taste of EDM in a local club, and it instantly got him hooked making him move from Kentucky to Seattle to pursue his new-found love. He then signed his first EP on Black Hole Recordings' Songbird label. After that many releases, collaborations and remixes followed for artists such as Zoo Brazil and Moonbeam.
Arielle Maren definitely made a name for herself in the world of EDM with her emotional and touching vocals. She has collaborated with Cardinal, Ørjan Nilsen, Dimension and Estiva, gaining a lot of success and support. New material is in the making, so be sure to follow Arielle!

Alex O’Rion presents his new single “Craters Of The Moon” on the Black Hole Recordings imprint. 

The recent release of Alex O’Rion’s artist album “The Bigger Room” harvested an enormous amount of positive response from all four corners of the globe and soon discussions started on what the best new single taken from the album would be. “Craters Of The Moon” finally saw the light of day. Prepare yourself for a highly melodic and extremely uplifting trancer with clear references to the synthesizer heroes from back in the days. It’s just one of those trademark Alex O’Rion productions that will work perfectly in a multiple hour live set. The progressive style build up of the track subtly piles up layers of crips synth and string programming until the melody sets in. From that moment on, the dance floor will be packed to the brim. 

The remixes bring a wide variety of styles. Alex himself returned to his own original to rework it into a techy, almost Kraftwerk style version. Brother Richard Durand takes things up a notch and delivers a truly banging tech trancer. The Craving Remix is a bit faster in BPM and will work perfectly in the big rooms and last but not least we have Thomas Coastline, who brings a superb trance version with a hint of old skool in it. “Craters Of The Moon” is ready to rock!
