Paper favourite, Captain Daco has been busy in his Spanish haven twiddling knobs and busting beats and what twiddles and beats they are!

The Uprise is another take on the arp of I Feel Love but it’s never been done so well. The familiar bass provides the backbone before it comes in at a gallop of swirling synths, rock solid kick and a call for nothing less than revolution. It’s been crushing Paper dancefloors and always achieves total mayhem.

The Galáctica Mix has all the same ingredients but takes a deeper disco route with drops and an arrangement that keeps the floor chomping at the bit.

Faith takes a different direction and it’s super deep house that is trippy and soulful in equal measures. Mikey Raphael provides the vocal and it’s hairs on the back of your neck time.

PELLEGROSSO is a Swedish native and citizen of the world. His travels in seek of deeper vibrations in nature brought him from Europe to Asia, and when he landed in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia a few years ago to teach at the School Of Audio Engineering, he hung out with members of the local scene and aboriginal tribes alike. These adventures sparked off a collection of music made while under the influence of Asia and all the music he has indulged on from his early teenage days making music on an Amiga 500 and organising acid house rave parties when he was merely 13 years old in his sleepy Nordic village.

International purveyors of the good groove, Futureboogie, notch up their eighth annual Summer Riot compilation EP this August, with an eclectic gathering of producers and tracks that fittingly encapsulate the current balmy vibes and a summer load of festivals and parties already behind us.

Techno dream-weaver, A Sagittariun, follows up his recent Futureboogie remix of Desert Sound Colony’s ‘Beta Burner’ with a hypnotic chugger, laced with the crystalline melodies that Sagi is renowned for, whilst Disco Halal regular, Kincaid, serves up some splendid 80s affected disco licks that reach for the stars.

Former Digital Justice member Liam Duggan (and one of the few Brits to release on Derrick May’s Fragile label), introduces his new project, The Red Flower Union, with a stylish yet wonky analogue workout.  

Prior releases for Cin Cin and Cutters have already brought STATUE to our attention, and ‘Ivory’ is a shining collage of live percussive work and ‘hands in the air’ piano and organ motifs, driven by its steady house rhythm.  And closing the ‘Summer Riot VIII’ release is Futureboogie regular, Neil Diablo, who yet again delivers a first class deployment of a new age Italo roller that’s packed with juicy synths and hard hitting drum machines.

10 months on from his last solo outing - a four-track missive of "Good Vibes" on Midnight Riot - South London's Shit Hot Soundsystem makes his belated bow on Slightly Transformed. There's much to enjoy on opener "Playground", a buzzing, low-slung chunk of mind-altering dub disco full of trippy electronic noises, intense bass, funky guitars and well-placed samples from a New York disco classic. On accompanying cut "Oh My My" he whips off his shirt and runs giddily towards sunny and summery disco pastures, adding his distinctive touch to a glassy eyed early '80s cut full of chopped-up rifts, celebratory vocal snippets and excitement-building filter sweeps.

Originally released on Eskimo Recordings' 'Yellow Collection', Middle Sky Boom & Eliezer's 'Slow With The Run' has long been a secret weapon for those DJs that like to take a break from the 120bpm bangers and give the dancefloor a bit of space to breathe and get freaky. Now those who have kept the faith are rewarded as Eskimo have dipped into their back catalogue, dug out the parts and invited Swedish producer Paresse and Parisians Il Est Vilaine to rework the track in their own special ways. 

Having impressed with his 'Sloth Machine' EP Stockholm based Paresse is first up to the plate. Keeping the basic structure in tact, Paresse opts to gild the original rather than embark on any wholesale changes. Building his remix around a mesmerising synth loop that he develops and builds upon across 6 minutes, Paresse delivers one of those numbers that locks you into its hypnotic groove and then before you know it your hands are in the air and you're bellowing 'TUNE' at the person sweating away next to you. 

Il Est Vilaine meanwhile rewind Belgian history to a moment long before Eskimo had been born and the lowlands reverberated to the martial beat of EBM and New Beat. Nudging down the tempo, Il Est Villaine pair the original's Arabesque guitar riff with the kind of heavily gated drums and synth arpeggios that would have set the strobes off at Boccaccio in the 80s.

Voyagers like Sam von Horn, Danny Goliger, Henry Was, Benny Bridges and Justin Jay also bring forth their own interpretations of the eternal tales encapsulated​ in the Book of Thump. If we are ever unsure of what the stories mean, we can always look to the Book itself for guidance: as chapter 2 of the Book exclaims, "Dance Like It's Your Life!" Enjoy.
