"Call It Love" is the first single from "Uhuru", the forthcoming debut album by Summers Sons & C.Tappin from London and Bristol. Summers Sons are Turt (rap) & Slim (beats) who are actually brothers. They are longtime friends with vocalist and pianist C.Tappin. Their music can be described as rap with a lot of jazz. We like to call it cool bap.

"Call It Love" inculdes an instrumental beat edit version. The artwork is by German-Venezuelan painter and illustrator Denis Faneites who lives in Berlin.
"Uhuru" means freedom in Swahili. The journey of this album started back in 2015 and was inspired by the people and places of Tanzania. After three years of channelling the vibe into beats and bars, it is finally here! "Uhuru" will be available digital and on double vinyl including instrumental edits of all songs. Release date is Sept 7th.

Summers Sons & C.Tappin - Call It Love

Helsinki-based drummer Joonas Leppänen introduces Alder Ego, his quartet formation bringing together four major talents from the buzzing Finnish jazz scene. Here, Leppänen is joined by trumpeter Tomi Nikku (of Bowman Trio), saxophonist Jarno Tikka and bassist Teemu Åkerblom.

Together they create forward thinking jazz music of the now: melodic, flowing, and full of surprises. The music moves forward naturally, carrying with it multiple levels of discovery. Leppänen's musical vision has cubist undertones, and the Alder Ego tracks takes unexpected turns yet maintain their melodic clarity at all times. Each member brings forth his soloistic prowess, with the frontline of Tikka and Nikku on sax and trumpet, respectively, shining through. That being said, this is small group jazz at its best: lean yet multilayered, melodic yet challenging, and ultimately based on teamwork with very rewarding results indeed.

"Flight", released digitally on July 25, the first taste of the Alder Ego album "II" to be released by We Jazz Records on October 26 on black and white vinyl editions (including printed inner sleeve with liner notes and full download), CD and digitally.

‘Tunnels’ begins with a flurry of drums before being enveloped by sub-bass pressure, like stepping directly into a basement club in full flow. As the track climaxes, saxophones sweep the air like green-spoked lasers overhead, creating a contrast of pinpoint clarity against the background atmosphere. Though sonically well outside Bristol’s dubstep legacy, it accurately portrays the smudged perception of a peak time rave. On the flip, we find the more introverted 'First Light', wherein the group downshift from the buzz of a bustling room to the hum of one’s head as dawn breaks. It is a moment of spacious solitude shared only, as Cunningham pictures it, with “swans fighting over polystyrene chip boxes” in the canal below.

With summer dim on the horizon, Los Angeles-based ensemble Annabel (lee) welcome the lengthening nights of autumn with one last EP before returning to the studio to finalize their third full-length album for the new year. Sheila Brown Ellis and husband Richard Ellis reveal the roots of their signature brand of Noir Jazz as they spend this October briefly peering into their past at collaborations with Tokyo’s Novo Tempo, London saxophonist Jake Telford, and composers Christoph Isermann and Alex Janz.

Exercising their skills as band leaders, Richard and Sheila deliver a specular after-hour sermon on the power of mutual bonds and the fruits of collaborative creativity, trading roaming acoustic guitar leads for authoritative striding bass lines and dark strings for the orchard whistles of song birds and flutes. Draped in the grain of streetlight fog, all three compositions give a mirthless nod towards the enchanting depths of Jazz.

Supernature unleashes Tamer Malki’s soulful mystery with the emotional four-track EP, Lifted.

Tamer has been picking up well deserved international attention with his recent release, ‘Change Your Mind,’ on Kindish (Get Physical’s sister label). His sound is instinctive and current; it evokes a level of emotion that is both uplifting and grounding. You can hear his desert ancestry in-between the bass and claps, feeling its warmth in resonant melody.

The word DEEP comes to mind when pounding this EP, but that’s an understatement. Perhaps there are no words to communicate the primitive sounds the soul makes, luckily there is music for that, and Tamer Malki is speaking the enigmatic language of the heart in both Lifted and Steel Breeze. AlexKid and Fabio Giannelli, serve up remixed variations that add a whole new dimension to an already seamless production.

Lifted sweeps you off your feet, and dissolves the ground below, evoking images of an astral dream; your body effortlessly carried over villages and cities, over sand dunes and mountains, beckoned by far away drums and mysterious vocals by Alex Nazar. Tribal percussion, sonorous bass and well-paced snares only start the journey through an orchestra of discord and harmony which is the human experience. All a bit heady but deeply moving and incredibly danceable.

Fabio Giannelli, with 13 years of dance music experience and some summer hits also coming out of Get Physical and Steve Lawler’s, Viva Warriors, brings to the Lifted remix a more techy sound and a quicker delivery of hefty bass, not forgoing the airy galactic elements of the original track. Fabio amplifies the discord bringing listeners to a level of restful unease which is perfectly timed and then placated by the tracks deep and alluring vocals.

Steel Breeze, is possibly on the lighter side, with deep native bass sounds which meet the modern world in sonic alchemy. Kicking off with a deep melody and travelling bass, this track’s got undeniable rhythm and a sound that carries. Wafting guitar riffs laid over rain sticks and Tamer’s signature spaced sounds bring captivating notions of warm Balearic sunsets or even a midnight jungle rendezvous. Always blending dark with the light, the deep groovy bass could also easily take you through sunrise and into oblivion. 
AlexKid, is renowned for his remixes from Nina Kraviz to Damian Lazarus. His collaborations with M.A.N.D.Y and home base at Watergate club in Berlin have made him an integral part of the Berlin music scene and he brings all that force to his Steel Breeze Tooldub Remix.
