003 - Seamus [First Edition]

This week it's Aberdonian and @vandelaylol resident @seamusabdn.

Growing up Seamus was always into music, playing both keyboard and guitar. His electronic music education begun with visiting clubs like Snafu & Tunnels in Aberdeen. He cites these experiences as responsible for getting him into producing and DJing.

His DJing influences come from people like Jackmaster, Red Greg, Hunee and Palms Trax. On the producing side Folamour, Joey Negro, Titeknots and Denis Sulta.

He told us to keep an eye out for Wikett, Ari Bald, Saint Paul and Queen & Disco, as he's been loving everything they’ve been putting out recently

This mix was inspired by showing the variety he likes to have in his sets and sharing some of his favourite tunes, old and new.

Coming up, Seamus is on support for @first-edition with Route 8 in Edinburgh on the 26th of April. He's then got the @meld_events Garden Party in Aberdeen on the 14th of May. Still cheap tickets for both going so get along.

He's currently working on improving his production skills at the moment and integrating hardware into his set-up. We can't wait to hear the results!

Seamus Alf Leyla

Haling from Aberdeen, Scotland, his electronic music education begun with visiting clubs like Snafu & Tunnels in Aberdeen, with Tunnels providing his first gig, leading to appearances across Scotland at clubs such Cab Vol, the Caves and the Liquid Rooms and a residency with Edinburgh promoter First Edition & a new project with Fight Night in Glasgow.

He has previously supported artists such as OR;LA,  Courtesy, Route 8, Nathan Micay, Hammer, Project Pablo, Pearson Sound and Helena Hauff.

As a producer, his music has been featured on BBC Introducing in Scotland, earning the tag ‘sound of the summer’, and he has appeared on labels such as Neptune Discs, Bedroom Traxx, and PMIX. His sound incorporates progressive, house , disco and techno with a flair for grainy textures, emotive melodies and sharp beats.
