On the third stage of our space voyage we encountered something out of the ordinary. If you like science fiction, techno-noir and Vangelis' original CS-80 Blade Runner soundtrack, so you're with us in this space shuttle. Drone-illbient session interspersed with field recording and granular synthesis, as well as witty work with samples from Native Outsider. Another Odessa-based distinct playa and producer of Eastern European sound, based on the modern UK bass and 90s trip hop scene. NO brings his unique style fusing uterine sub-bass lines, multi-timbre textures and danceable rhythm contours.

This is the sixth war track I've composed since russian terrorists attacked Ukraine on 24th February 2022. It is called Carpathians for freedom.
It tells a story of how mechanics of war machines can never interweave into natural landscapes of Western Ukraine in the Carpathian Mountains. Because it is simply impossible. Because our land may even protect itself on its own from ugly russians. Nature gives us power to feel connected and fulfilled just as communication with each other, Nature can heal, can help and will always protect those who respect its laws and takes care of it. Ukraine will stand, russia will fall. And we will win, because we can feel each other and we care of each other and we love our Nature and love each other so strong, like never before. Because we want to live so hard these days and we will live!

Kimmah

We kick off the month of May with Rotterdam resident Kimmah, she is fascinated by decaying concrete basements and forgotten industrial structures. It is those sort of places she soundtracks with her high-energy DJ sets which mix up raw, dark yet funky electro from all points on the spectrum. She only started when the pandemic hit, but has already made an indelible mark on her local scene in Rotterdam as a resident at FOMO. Her swift rise is a testament to the irresistible grit and sleaze of her selections, the infectious bump and grind of her beats, and the thrilling ghetto textures of her grooves.

Kimmah was born in Utrecht, spent some time studying in Berlin and finally settled in Rotterdam shortly before the pandemic hit. When it kept her away from the dance floor connections she loved so much, she decided to make them for herself. She spent the whole of lockdown locked up and working on some old CDJs and turntables. She came out the other side with a terminator DJ style that never lets up and draws on acid, breaks, ghetto, punk and rap vocals, nasty basslines or hard-hitting rhythm. It is an electrifying style that is always full of surprises.

As a diminutive woman, Kimmah jokes, "I can usually only see the first row of hyped-up dancers and they really make my night. I know the vibe is right when everyone can lose themselves in the energy and the music and feel like they can dance however they want to." Along the way, she likes to tease in some of the more traditional sounds from her Vietnamese heritage alongside the physical sounds of Eastern Europe, Detroit, and of course the Netherlands' own famous West Coast.

It was for a Utrecht radio station in May 2021 that Kimmah made her debut after an invite from the colourful AMPFEMININE collective. Since then, she has played on radio stations all over the Netherlands as well as Greece and the UK, and has DJ at cult Dutch clubs like PIP, BRET, Skatecafe, BIT and EKKO.

She is very much on the cusp of breaking through after some key support along the way and, in recognition of that, is looking to help make the scene as accessible as possible for other women of all colours, sexualities and genders. With Kimmah to look up to, we all have plenty to get excited about.

My last live play in Kyiv at nechto gig as its artist in October 2021. Our walk from backstage with @splinter_ua was unexpectedly filmed by dobass1 - thanks for this memory, mate. 

Today i released this dirty and heavy track called Container on my bandcamp (link in heading), it is made on a lil volca drum machine using guitar pedals for sound destruction. Buy it and use in your sets, I hope somewhere in safe places it will help you make people happy again for a moment during night time.

Відос нашого кетволку був таємно знятий Дімой Дубасс, який я і взяв, як ілюстрацію , як воно було колись вночі двіжувати. Це був мій останній київський лайв у складі нєчто - жовтень 2021. Дякую за потужний рейв і спогад всім, хто прийшов, грав і організував тоді цей івент. 
Впевнений, що згодом в Україні буде місце для нової безкомпромісної сцени, яка будується саме зараз, і яка остаточно доб’є кацапів ще й в культурному полі, так само, як це роблять наші славетні війська, а також безжальні мем-війська, якім окремий респект і любов!
