Arguing about cultural reconstruction is something we do not leave in the comment areas, we prefer to deal with it in our studios. So did MAUGLI with his genre-bending "Alba" release of the year 2021. Six ambitious musicians were hired to reconsider the organic sounds of "Alba" from yet another background.

We circled the planet, literally - making our way through the South American desert jungle, diving into Berlin cellars, riding a bike along the red-green roads of Amsterdam, mastering the sold-out system on a New York standing boat, jumping over Mexican potholes huddling in tiny Istanbul bars, and dusting your face in the lowlands of Nevada lakes - in search of this set of sounds...

The first laid-back electronic carriage immerses you in slow ambiances with a somewhat taste of the beginning of a spiritual ceremony; that’s right. Don’t hesitate. Loosen up. 

As the ride progresses, we find ourselves inside hypnotic trip hop and downtempo lodgings, now we are walking with style as hip hop looms in the background; we love what this trip is gifting us!

Folklore and global elements are sensed and we are ready for an astonishing slow dance, also strong in mental appeal.

Klangstrom is a creature rarely spotted outside the wind-swept city at the Baltic Sea, despite having produced some of the best downbeat tracks you’ve probably never heard of. Featuring rusty guitar samples and subtle synth lines, his music combines elements of trance, hiphop and folklore, culminating in an emotional, outward looking and physical sound.

Mesoamerica was unified by a commonly held, if not unified, system of spiritual practice. Mesoamerican spirituality possessed a cosmology that saw the visible world as multitiered, consisting of the Above Realm of the heavens; the middle Earthly Realm, the home of living humanity; and the watery Beneath Realm of the dead and thus of the ancestors. 

Within this layered cosmic model, directionality and coloration played pivotal roles. Each cosmic layer possessed its own deities, and they were linked by an axis-mundi that could take the form of a world tree or mountain, or a temple or sacred fire. 

At times this axis mundi could assume the personified form of an important spiritual practitioner. The deities and supernatural entities that inhabited these realms could and often did cross the three cosmic realms.
