A new experiment that evolved into a fresh track.

One night, I opened Ableton and started crafting some disco beats which I shared the work-in-progress beat with a group chat of friends visiting Paris for the weekend. My friend Damien responded with an impromptu voice note, playfully singing: "aaaaah chocolat cacao" before we met up the next day.

In a moment of creative whimsy, I sampled Damien's voice note, incorporating it into the beat, then creating the melody from it with a disco synth bassline that smells like Moroder – a wink to my friends and I favourite dancing song of all time: Donna Summer's I feel love.

Thirty years after Maya Angelou stood before America and called us to face our truth, her words echo with prophetic urgency across a world still fractured by division. From the battlefields of Ukraine to the streets where voices cry for justice, from boardrooms where glass ceilings persist to classrooms where children learn to see beyond the color of skin—we remain a species "thrusting perpetually under siege," our struggles leaving "collars of waste" upon the shores of human dignity. The rock still cries out to us, refusing to let us hide in shadows while wars rage and inequalities persist. The river still sings its ancient song, carrying both the debris of our failures and the promise of renewal. In Gaza and in Kyiv, in the halls of power and the margins of society, people still arrive "on nightmares, praying for dreams." Yet Maya's tree stands unmoved beside the waters of time, reminding us that every passage has been paid, every struggle has prepared us for this moment. Here, on the pulse of this turbulent morning, we can still choose to look into our sister's eyes across every border, into our brother's face beyond every difference, and despite the darkness that surrounds us, say simply, with unwavering hope: Good morning.

Sometimes you have to share a tab with a friend to unlock your creative soul.

Born from the euphoric afterglow of Garbicz 2025, "Tantric Lysergic" is more than a track—it's a sonic memory capsule, a 7-minute journey that bridges the sacred and the psychedelic, the meditative and the chaotic.

THE SOUND

This isn't your typical genre piece. I call it Hippie Dance, but it's really about creating something that makes my friends move, something that sparks that perfect moment when music becomes pure joy. The foundation is built on meditative Indian flute layers—transcendent, flowing, pulling you into a trance state. Then comes the acid: classic TR-303 sounds that twist and spiral, adding that psychedelic edge that nods to electronic music's rebellious roots.

But here's where it gets interesting: I've thrown rock drums into the mix. Steady, driving, unapologetic rock rhythms that give the track its backbone. Layer upon layer of percussion builds throughout the seven minutes, creating this hypnotic pulse that your body can't ignore. And then there's the electric guitar—aggressive, sometimes clashing beautifully with the soothing flute, because life isn't about fitting into neat boxes.

THE MEMORY

Saturday night, 3 AM, Juicy bar stage. Damien, Alex, and I discovered something magical in the most unexpected way. One of the Funktion-One speakers was completely out of tune, creating this wild, distorted sound that turned every track into an abstract masterpiece. In a festival renowned for Berlin's legendary sound quality, where every frequency is tuned to perfection, this one rogue speaker was playing by its own rules.

We couldn't stop laughing. Were we witnessing a technical malfunction or experiencing some next-level artistic statement? The absurdity of it all—that in a place where sound is treated as sacred, this one speaker was having its own psychedelic breakdown—sent us into fits of uncontrollable laughter. We cried from laughing so hard. I nearly rolled on the ground.

That moment of pure, shared joy became the soul of this track.

THE EASTER EGG

Listen closely to the electric guitar. You'll hear it drift out of tune from the A key that anchors the rest of the composition. It's not a mistake—it's an intentional homage to that beautiful, broken speaker and the memory we three share. Every time they'll hear the guitar going rogue, I'm hoping to bring them back to that 3 AM moment when imperfection created perfection, when a potential technical glitch (or artistic goal – we still don't know!) became a gateway to pure bliss.

THE WHY

I tell people I make music for my friends, to make them dance and feel good. But if I'm being honest? It's selfish. There's nothing quite like watching someone lose themselves to a track you've created, seeing that moment when the music hits and their whole being lights up. Music is my medium for creating those moments of connection, those shared experiences that bind us together.

"Tantric Lysergic" is my love letter to imperfection, to unexpected moments, and to the old and new friends who made this Garbicz 2025 festival journey worthwhile.
