Thirty years after Maya Angelou stood before America and called us to face our truth, her words echo with prophetic urgency across a world still fractured by division. From the battlefields of Ukraine to the streets where voices cry for justice, from boardrooms where glass ceilings persist to classrooms where children learn to see beyond the color of skin—we remain a species "thrusting perpetually under siege," our struggles leaving "collars of waste" upon the shores of human dignity. The rock still cries out to us, refusing to let us hide in shadows while wars rage and inequalities persist. The river still sings its ancient song, carrying both the debris of our failures and the promise of renewal. In Gaza and in Kyiv, in the halls of power and the margins of society, people still arrive "on nightmares, praying for dreams." Yet Maya's tree stands unmoved beside the waters of time, reminding us that every passage has been paid, every struggle has prepared us for this moment. Here, on the pulse of this turbulent morning, we can still choose to look into our sister's eyes across every border, into our brother's face beyond every difference, and despite the darkness that surrounds us, say simply, with unwavering hope: Good morning.
