The ever-developing Melbourne-based artist, Hooch, finds inspiration (and new sounds)in the noises he experiences around him: from the whining water pipes of his apartment to the chirping of the bird that wakes him up each morning. Once recorded, modified and synthesised, ordinary sounds form the basis for much of Hooch's often-relaxed, slow-head-bobbing, thought-provoking music.

Surrounded by other young musicians, Hooch's musical journey began when his drumming-brother and guitarist-cousin needed a bass player to jam with. His range of musical skill quickly developed to include any instrument he could get his hands on, and even instruments that aren’t traditionally musical, e.g. a tin shed and a pebble or a plumbing pipe and a concrete path.
