JAYNE AMARA ROSS - Safe Sex Drill

Plane Talea è un archivio di voci anonime che il compositore Alessandro Bosetti raccoglie da alcuni anni. 
L’archivio conserva decine di migliaia di files audio, brevi emissioni vocali — utterances — tutte o quasi tutte appena più brevi di una parola dotata di senso, conservate in cartelle che ne specificano le caratteristiche ma omettono qualsiasi dettaglio biografico sulla persona che originariamente le ha prodotte. 
Nel tempo che segue le registrazioni, il ricordo dell’incontro coi donatori e le donatrici di voce svanisce lentamente mentre il compositore incontra e impara a conoscere delle vere e proprie creature vocali, dotate di personalità propria ed in grado di condurre un’esistenza autonoma. 
Ogni volta in cui Alessandro Bosetti performa l’archivio, si ritrova a percorrerlo in sensi e direzioni nuove, ricomponendo e ricambiando i frammenti vocali senza però mai alterarne la natura sonora. Nessun effetto quale pitch shifting,  time stretching, delay, o frammentazione viene applicato alle voci registrate mentre l’unica strategia compositiva utilizzata nelle performances è quella di organizzare delle rapide ricombinazioni. 
Una certa ispirazione è stata l’Ars Combinatoria di Raimondo Lullo, le cui divine ruote concentriche garantivano di poter esprimere tutte le combinazioni presenti nell’universo, tanto quanto la sua Macchina per Pensare disegnata da lui nella Ars Magna del XIII secolo.

I files non vengono inoltre mai tagliati “nella carne della voce” — ogni uttenrance comincia e finisce per suo conto —  e per quanto minuscoli siano i dettagli di tali inizi e di tali fini essi vengono sempre preferiti a dei fade in o fade out. Come un treno che si mette in movimento oppure frena producendo una caratteristica sequenza di eventi sonori, anche ciascuna delle emissioni vocali di Plane/Talea produce  la sua personalissima sequenza di micro eventi sonori che ne caratterizzano l’apparire e lo scomparire.
Ogni performance di Plane/Talea è una passeggiata attraverso un paesaggio vocale, una communita di esseri sonori o se si vuole un coro immaginario e impossibile e pertanto estremamente reale. Tutti i suoni presenti in questo paesaggio sono esclivamente suoni vocali, non trattati elettronicamente ma unicamente ricombinati. 

Il desiderio composition e l’immaginazione musicale di Alessandro Bosetti si specchiano e si confrontano con una materia fatta di oggetti trovati e vivi, ancora carichi dell’energia e dell’emozione di un incontro di cui si sono perse le tracce. 

L’archivio di voci ne raccoglie oggi all’incirca settanta e continua ad espandersi. 

Le diverse performance e attivazioni dell’archivio si susseguono dal 2016, questa, presentata per la prima volta su Fango Radio  è la numero 35.

"J'ai réalisé ce mix selon l'esprit des boucles qu'on m'a proposé d'utiliser, en les mélangeant ensemble de manière à créer quelque chose de neuf et en évolution constante. J'ai accéléré certains disques en les jouant en 45 tours, décalant le début des boucles en utilisant des techniques similaires à celles apprises quand j'étais DJ hip-hop - scratch, passe-passe etc.. J'ai également joué avec les équalisations pour exposer certaines parties cachées dans les boucles, et ajouté une couche d'effets de manière à faire en sorte que le flux sonore soit le plus homogène possible. J'aurais aimé avoir une troisième platine à disposition, mais je n'en avais malheureusement pas sous la main."  Eric Douglas Porter

GAËL SEGALEN - L'ANGE LE SAGE - Sampler LP

On this mix, originally appearing on Headphone Commute podcast in May of 2017, we celebrate some of the pioneers of early electronic ambient music, with the help of a long-time contributor, Fingers in the Noise. Here are all of the first explorations into the then unnamed genre, sometimes referred to as avant-garde, new-music, or simply electronic music. Pictured for the cover art of this mix is Laurie Spiegel, an American composer, who, while working in Bell Laboratories in the early 70s, composed with analog synthesizers using interactive software she wrote herself. Some of this music is hard to come by, with the early experiments a bit difficult to digest, so I thank Laurent Bisch for his wonderful selection of tracks for this very special tribute.

Gaël Segalen (@ihearu) hasn’t started to work in the cultural field yesterday,
her approach of music and sounds is indeed extremely diverse : from social sciences, to radio, to on location sound for film, to field recording, to electroacoustic studies and work, to education, to travel the world to collect voices, to audio art / interaction / anthropology and geology, to music composition… Gaël is an artist, a researcher, a feminist activist, in one word : an observer, a listener. She is also very prolific so it will be hard to resume everything here.

Alice Guerlot-Kourouklis is a sound artist and composer based in France.
With a degree in sociology, she worked as a musician (accordion and piano) before devoting herself to composition.  
Composition, which emerged from her instrumental practices (self-taught, unorthodox use of instruments, sound as a material to be sculpted, modification of the timbre of the instrument with the use of effects pedals and real-time sound processing, play on the ambiguity between natural sound and synthetic sound) is approached as an empirical process. Through encounters with other artistic fields, she has freely navigated between several aesthetics, exploring the concept of translation and the notion of conversation between media: field recording, the broadcasting of interviews, the abstraction of sound in encounters with image or dance, the search for singularity through the meticulous work of textures as a privileged mode of musical expression for films.
Inspired by the human sciences, and committed to a more experimental approach, for some years now she has been interested in the musical translation of sociological and philosophical concepts. In 2019, she co-founded the collective IAKERI and co-signed the installation Murs Invisibles, presented in numerous art centres and festivals. For her, this work inaugurates a new approach to musical creation through the use of digital data derived from a social event, which will determine the spatialisation, dynamics, timbre and texture of the music, in the form of deterioration, frequency sculpting and the appearance of silences.
She then introduced herself to free improvisation and polyrhythm, which also led her to reflect on the impregnations of the ear and its perceptions.
In 2020, the Festival Image Sonore commissioned a work of mixed music for "Agriconium", which she performed accompanied by cellist Eric-Maria Couturier (Ensemble Intercontemporain) and violinist Antoine Maisonhaute (Quatuor Tana).
In 2021, the Quatuor TANA commissioned her to create Through The Looking | Glass, a work of mixed music based on the quartets of Philip Glass.
