I was given free reign in Rod Cooper's house one afternoon in mid 2008. An instrument maker, improviser, builder and magician from Melbourne. All recordings were made with a zoom H4 and a pair of schott capsule mics placed inside the bowels of a variety of Rod's instruments. 
The instruments are made of stainless steel: resonating shells are covered in a variety of idiophones: mbira-style tines both flat and tubular (bike spokes) and piano strings which can be plucked or bowed and hurdy-gurdy type mechanisms, cunningly constructed from a disk of MDF and a fishing reel mechanism. They produce the sound of a scrap metal yard in deep pain under water. What a guy.
