Roland VG-99 demo using the COSM Acoustic Vari models. Played using slapping. Banjo model is used for most parts except the lower pitched right side drum which utilize the Metal model.

Captured live in Möbius 2 then moved to Ableton Live 9 for mixing and re-arranging.

Hand Drums

Yeah I know it's all a bit 80's guitar axe god stuff but this patch basically shows off the input level control assigns of VG99 in order to automatically reduce the delay and reverb send when playing and allow them to increase as the note dies off - like a sophisticated ducking. GK vol and EXP 1 on FC300 control how the level of verb and delay and CTL2 turns the verb and delay on or off. TBH, the tone is way off as I was tired when this was done and made the cardinal sin of tweaking the tone over the headphones. Anyway, it demos the whole lush verb delay thing...

Neal Schon Live VG99 patch demo

OK so please remember we're using a guitar and guitar processor here trying to emulate the very recognisable bass sound of Geddy Lee. No samples. No PCM. Just pure wave modelling of the guitars output. The bass you're hearing is only the VG99. I reckon it did OK! The patch is available to download from vguitarforums

Barchetta VG99 Bass Patch in the style of Geddy Lee

An attempt at recreating the choral vocal sound used on Voice of Necam from Steve Hackett's Please Don't Touch album. Sometimes it sounds voice like sometimes it's wide of the mark. I used the humaniser and lots of tight EQing to get this sound - bearing in mind it's just pure guitar tone remodelled - no samples - not too shabby.

The Second Arrangement - Steely Dan restoration

VG99 provides a single stereo Rhythm track, one stereo solo track and one bass track from 2 patches.

The two patches at work here are firstly “KXM Lynch” which is an attempt at George Lynch’s generic guitar tone on the KXM project. The patch uses 2 separate modelled virtual guitars and amp & FX chains to recreate a heavy tone and a half drop double tracked rhythm sound and also covers the lead tone with George’s characteristic “pick up is more in the neck” lead tone with optional Wah.

The other patch at work is “Dug Pinnock” – an attempt at recreating Dug’s thunderous bass sound with top end distortion – be careful with this patch, it could make your woofer feel a bit ill at loud volumes!

So I already did a Won't Get Fooled Again patch - great organ sound and all that but why the hell didn't I finish the job properly and stick Pete's guitar sound on as well? Dunno - but I've done it now! Expression pedal 2 controls that nasty 'ole brit git!

Won't Get Fooled Again V2 VG99 Patch Demo

Played in one pass on one track by one guitar with one patch. The verse guitars on the original are double tracked panned hard left and right and it's impossible for one person to play exactly what Paul Kossoff did because he used different inversions of the A chord on left and right takes besides massively different tone setup. I've used some cunning variable delay between the left and right models to simulate double tracking by a single guitar. This patch also has the solo tone.
