Recorded over the phone between Philadelphia and Denver, THE SUGAR STOMACH EP applies GIRLS CHAT ROOM’s VHS-faded sound to a new set of singular yet universal themes (sugar, chicken, work, childcare, parties, etc.). The EP thrillingly careens between bargain bin synthpunk on “Chickenwire,” nuclear stepping with “She She She,” the lurching glam stomp of title track Sugar Stomach, and more, all filtered through lead singer Babystar’s terrifying post-post-Internet worldview.
