A track recorded at Converse Shoe Co. Rubber Tracks Studio! CHS Music wrote an original song together in our first year as a BPS music program at Charlestown High School about the youth empowering themselves. The song is a collective of what these first year instrumental music students have learned this year, but also serves as an outlet for our featured lyricists to share their thoughts on youth empowerment. "Someday" by CHS Music

I was playing piano inside a small cafe in San Francisco. The windows open and the curtains blowing in the foggy breeze. As I started to play, a citywide alarm came over San Francisco’s loudspeaker. The slow, upward gliss of the siren came in just moments after I began to play. I immediately reacted to the siren’s eerie roar and started to play alongside it as if the city and I were taking part in some sort of sinister duet. We were talking to each other. 

With the rapid movement of the piano, the siren, and the café telephone ringing off the hook, it created an unsettling sense of urgency!

To me, this sounds like a story that begins in disarray. A recently evacuated house with a loved one on the other end of the phone trying to reach them, but no one is home. It’s gloomy, the windows are open, the curtains blowing, and papers flying. What do you hear?
