Leah Zhang has just ruined her cousin's wedding. She didn't mean to wish the bride a depressing marriage and poor health, but she's forgotten most of her Mandarin. Her parents stage an intervention: Leah will be sent on a travel program across China's most beautiful cities. To them, it's the perfect opportunity for Leah to get back to her roots. To Leah, it's simply a much-needed escape.

But before Leah can even begin to enjoy the luxurious hotels, stunning scenery, and mouth-watering cuisine, she finds that also on the trip is cynical, sarcastic Cyrus Sui, who's somehow only gotten more annoyingly handsome since the day he told a lie that ruined her life.

While Leah might be tempted to shove him off the peak of the Yellow Mountain when nobody's looking, she can't get rid of him just yet. After all, she might never get another chance to get revenge.

CINAR was an old Canadian company founded in 1976 by Ronald A. Weinberg and Micheline Charest in New York City. They formerly specialized in film distribution before moving to Montreal and shifting their focus to children's media. From the 80s to the 90s, they found success with shows from almost every late 20th-century kids' youth such as The World of David the Gnome, The Busy World of Richard Scarry, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Space Cases, The Little Lulu Show, The Adventures of Paddington Bear, Zoboomafoo, Caillou, and their most successful IP, Arthur. By the end of the 90s, the company was worth CA$ 150 million and owned about CA$ 1.5 billion of the children's television market in general. You could say they were a former juggernaut of Canadian children's media, rivaling fellow Canadian studio Nelvana, and were one of the main reasons Canadian cartoons are everywhere.

In March 2000, everything came crashing down when an internal audit revealed that over CA$ 175 million was being invested in Bahamian bank accounts without approval from the board. The company also paid American screenwriters for work while Canadians were credited, and the company continued to accept federal grants and tax credits for the production of domestic content. Weinberg and his wife were allegedly using CINAR's funds as a personal piggy bank and schemed to transfer funds out of the company to the Bahamas through their own offshore accounts. They were later revealed to have plagiarized a cartoon idea from animator Claude Robinson based on a concept he pitched to the company in 1986. Claude was awarded $5.2 million in damages after a suit that settled the 14-year dispute between him and CINAR.

The company was sold to Nelvana founder Michael Hirsh in 2004 for CA$ 190 million and was renamed Cookie Jar. Eventually, they were folded into DHX Media and then Wildbrain. As for Weinberg and his wife, Micheline Charest died in 2004 after complications from plastic surgery, while Weinberg was put on trial in 2014, the trial lasting for over two years. He was eventually sentenced to almost 9 years in prison. He served less than three years of his sentence before being fully paroled. He will likely never work in Canadian children's media ever again.

Born in 2007 and diagnosed with autism, I first discovered my passion for writing back in November 2023 when I wrote a draft of a novel to cope with a personal event. While that draft is currently lost to my archives, I continue to pursue my dreams with perseverance and great talent.

I also dabble in voice work. I can do American, British, and Australian accents, Spanish / Español dialogue, a young adult male voice, and witty, comedic timing. I can do voice work for movies, TV shows, video games, and advertisements.
