On 18-05-2024 it was time for the third installment of BlasTTek. 
This edition featured Vox Fabri and Mad Scientist on the line up and this set was scheduled between those acts. 

I set out to make a 90minute journey on the overlap between Tekno/Darkpsy/Hitech/Psycore and Slambient. It features an eclectic selection of weird, groovy and hard hitting tracks all of them unique in their own way. Check out this madhouse of a tracklist!

Acluofobia, o temor do escuro, é um sussurro ancestral, um resquício dos nossos antepassados. Em tempos antigos, a noite era um manto de mistério, ocultando predadores e perigos. Esse medo era um instinto de sobrevivência, um guardião silencioso.

Hoje, mesmo rodeados de luz artificial, esse medo ainda vive em nós. Não é uma reação aos perigos externos, mas uma dança interna com a nossa mente. A escuridão se torna um espelho, refletindo nossas emoções mais profundas e nossas vulnerabilidades.

Abraçar a acluofobia é aceitar nossa humanidade. É reconhecer que o medo é uma sombra familiar, um legado dos que nos precederam. Enfrentar a escuridão é uma jornada psicodélica, uma celebração da coragem que carregamos em nosso interior.

Na tranquilidade da noite, encontramos uma beleza singular na escuridão. É a prova de que somos humanos, tecendo nossa própria luz dentro das sombras.

Achluophobia, the fear of the dark, is an ancestral whisper, a remnant of our ancestors. In ancient times, the night was a cloak of mystery, concealing predators and dangers. This fear was a survival instinct, a silent guardian.

Today, even surrounded by artificial light, this fear still lives within us. It is not a reaction to external dangers, but an internal dance with our mind. Darkness becomes a mirror, reflecting our deepest emotions and vulnerabilities.

Embracing achluophobia is accepting our humanity. It is recognizing that fear is a familiar shadow, a legacy of those who came before us. Facing the darkness is a psychedelic journey, a celebration of the courage we carry within.

In the tranquility of the night, we find a singular beauty in the darkness. It is proof that we are human, weaving our own light within the shadows.

Something About Settler Colonialism, the debut release by KØBA DØBA (aka Mr. Babadook), is a bold foray into dark psytrance/psycore, marked by its abstract, experimental sound that defies genre conventions. 

With a unique blend of polyrhythmic tribal percussion, glitchy drone elements, and eroded textures, this release oscillates between slambient and ethnocore, occasionally introducing subtle hints of jazz, creating an immersive, psychedelic experience. This rich and dynamic tapestry of layered soundscapes is used by KØBA DØBA to explore and confront themes such as settler colonialism, surveillance, and social responsibility.

The album opens with "Drone(s) Over Khan-Younis", a haunting reflection on the experience of living under relentless military surveillance. This is followed by "Sikiyn Yuqasim Al-Quds" (A Knife Divides Jerusalem), a stark portrayal of a society fractured by settler violence. The third track, "West-Bank Story", introduces jazz-infused elements, reflecting on the dual nature of walls, both physical and metaphorical. The EP closes with "Lumpenravetariat", a powerful critique of the psychedelic community’s role in confronting social and political issues.

With its intricate rhythms and haunting sound textures, Something About Settler Colonialism offers a profound auditory experience, merging intense sonic experimentation with sharp socio-political commentary.
