translucent was written fresh after a break up when it felt like i just wasn’t good enough for anything. i was hearing rumors about my ex hanging out with models and hooking up with people who quite honestly, i looked nothing like. i don’t have perfect skin, straight teeth or the curly hair he always wanted in his partners and it made me feel all types of weird ways about myself. that feeling ultimately made me begin to question the true definition of beauty. as corny as it sounds no matter how pretty somebody’s face may be, their character is much more revealing of how beautiful they really are. this song was my exploring that reality and has become not only one of my favorite songs, but my most vulnerable. as for my ex, let’s just say he had a pretty face.. n thats about it lol
