It's me or nothing

“Closer Than You Think” is out, only 6 years in the making. This song has been close to my heart since I wrote it, and I wanted to get it right.

After graduating college in 2018, I moved to Chicago, leaving behind many of the closest friends I’d ever made as we scattered around the country. I made an effort to connect with those friends over the phone, Skype, FaceTime, etc., but always felt like I wasn’t reaching out often enough. The demands of Joining The Workforce had me struggling to balance my time, and I decided to write a song about it.

6 years later, having recently completed another move, this song feels just as relevant as ever. Maintaining friendships across distance can be difficult with new places and demands tugging at us, but it’s worth it. This song is my earnest attempt to remind myself (and anyone else who wants to listen) of that fact.

Anyway, I hope it makes you feel something, and maybe even encourages you to reach out to someone. They’re closer than you think. 😉

I am inspired by many musicians and styles of music...Kurt Cobain - Nirvana, Brian Jones - early Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Syd Barrett - Pink Floyd,  Richard Ashcroft - The Verve, Ian Brown - Stone Roses, The La's, Noel Gallagher - Oasis...this are just a few artists / bands. There is many music genres that I like to listen, not just rock'n'roll, pop, mainstream...I like many genres  in electronic music also. I am an Author of Music and Lyrics. I use only an Acoustic Guitar and my Phone Camera to record my songs. I believe that the Melody is the most important element of the song. I am not looking for perfection because I like it raw and real...if you remember Nirvana Unplugged...well, this for me is a real masterpiece. I live in this small town called Uattanscethe (better known as Wattenscheid) for some decades. It is the heart of the Ruhr area, my personal Ruhrtown.
