I am a Rock n' Roll singer, born in Scotland, who lives in Australia and loves his family.

With almost twenty years in the entertainment industry, my passion for making music, telling stories and passing on what i have found to others, has taken me to some amazing places and introduced me to some beautiful, talented, and crazy people. In that time I have worked alongside music industry heavyweights including Tool, Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, the infamous Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke, Grammy Award winning producers Hugo Nicolson, William Bowden, ARIA award winning producer Ian Pritchett and the celebrated Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

As a storyteller I have been given the tremendous opportunity to work with directing team on the acclaimed Pinchgut Opera productions of Orpheus & Eurydice and Juditha Triumphans, and NIDA’s 50th anniversary production of Midsummer Night’s Dream. I pissed off the late Kerry Packer in Barrie Kosky’s controversial There is No Need To Wake Up for the Sydney Olympic Arts Festival, and was proud to be a part of the Australian delegation at a UNESCO theatre festival set high in the mountains of Romania, (just a stone’s throw from Dracula’s castle). You can see me pop-up in The Illusionist, Baz Lurmann’s Australia, The Road From Coorain, and Doom Runners working on set with world renowned actors including Edward Norton, Nicole Kidman, Richard Roxburgh and Tim Curry aka Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

Whilst in exile from Australia throughout the Howard era, I lived in the magical city of Prague making music with the half Czech, half Aussie band Astro Metro. I fronted the alt-rock electric monster Red Fire Red, have written lots of songs, the children’s play Across The Story Bridge and my first eBook Create Play Connect. In my spare time I promoted the the highly successful micro-music festivals Spin The Bottle and 24 in Sydney and Melbourne.

Powerhouse singer Mahalia Barnes, one of the most impressive female vocalists to come out of Australia, and her band The Soul Mates have teamed up with American blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa to release an album of Betty Davis covers called Ooh Yea! – The Betty Davis Songbook. Scheduled for release on February 23/24, 2015, it explores tracks from Davis’ sexy, raw funk records of the early ‘70s. 
 
 
Mahalia Barnes, eldest daughter of Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes and recent contestant on The Voice, has been around music her whole life but has always been most heavily influenced by soul, blues and rock n’ roll. Throughout the years she was exposed to Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Ike + Tina and later, became enthralled with artists like Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder as well as grittier singers like Ann Peebles, Betty Lavette and Betty Davis. 
 
Last year, Mahalia was in the studio with her dad and internationally acclaimed super-producer, Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonamassa, Journey, Divinyls), when she played Kevin some Betty Davis tracks as a reference. It was then that the idea to record the album Ooh Yeah – The Betty Davis Song Book was born.
 
“I have been a fan of Betty Davis for years now,” said Barnes. “I can remember the first time I heard her stuff, I was hooked! She is wild, free, nasty, raw, funky, intense, powerful and sexy. I love the instrumentation, I love the backing vocals. I’ve always wanted to make a record that sounds like what she was doing.”


In 2011 Diesel celebrated 25 years in the industry.  With over 35 singles, 13 albums, 6 ARIA awards and record sales edging 1 million, Diesel is a journeyman of music.
With blues music in his DNA, an influence largely from his Father’s record collection, Diesel has blended styles to come up with a truly unique sound, punctuated with his distinct guitar playing and vocals.
