Earlier this year, Bristolian DJ Jody Wisternoff along with label co-founder and A&R James Grant, released their milestone tenth mixed compilation 'Anjunadeep 14', featuring the stunning original composition 'Second Chance'.

Since debuting the track during a special live performance of Anjunadeep 14 at Qarraba Bay in Malta, the 180 minute sunset performance has garnered over a staggering 872,000 views, with ‘Second Chance’ amassing over 200,000 streams alone.

`A soothing production of twinkling pianos, shimmering rain sounds and gentle synths that swoon alongside one another, the track sees Jody & James join Reflections for a full release. Jody shares how the song came together in his own words.

“It was whilst watching the end sequence of Disney's 'Soul' during the height of lockdown and the low of a depression that a beautiful piece of piano music jumped out and literally shook me to the core. I felt a tangible relief from the darkness, and was immediately inspired to interpret this soothing but melancholic melody into something me and James could put our stamp on.

After gaining permission from the original composer, Trent Reznor (9 Inch Nails), we got to work and turned out this piece which we feel very happy with. We hope you like it too.”

Final DJ set of all original tracks from Spencer Hutchinson, known to the music world as ersatzmodem. Spencer sadly, suddenly, and unexpectedly passed away from complications of sleep apnea on April 21, 2024. Spencer was a beloved creator and caring person whose influence could be felt in so many different places - his paintings, history knowledge, charisma, and culinary skills were just a small sampling of how bright his light really was. Spencer was my best friend. He has my back through so many times, we created so much together. And moving through this world without him ... it is a completely different place now. This set was recorded on April 8, 2024, in Bloomington Indiana , as the moon moved in front of the sun during the total eclipse.

THE MANY LIVES OF HUNTER ERICSON, TELEPHONE MAN 

Artist, inventor, collector-historian, and explorer, Hunter Ericson encodes secret messages into skittery beats. He put his roots down in rave in the early 2000’s as a turntable junky and drum n’ bass head, simultaneously falling in with graffiti culture and practice. As the years progressed, his career as a cellphone tower technician granted him initiation into the mysterious world of telephone esoterica. Triangulated between these three pillars of inspiration—Rave, Graffiti, and Telecommunication—and driven by a frenetic curiosity, the Telephone Man keeps his hands in many arcane realms.  

 Besides DJing and audio production, Ericson’s creative interests include phone phreaking, hardware hacking, synth-building, record pressing, pirate FM radio broadcasting, experimental video production and animation, VHS, tagging and mural-making, graphic design, machine embroidery, screenprinting, writing, and more. His current major project, Telecommunity, involves broadcasting eclectic aural madness into the airwaves from his own repurposed telephone tower in the hills of Pennsylvania, throwing electronic music shows with an ever-evolving cohort of innovative collaborators, staging pop-up museums and art installations, and offering a steady stream of mystical multimedia transmissions to the public at large.  

 As he roams between tower sites on New York City rooftops and remote locations in mountains or plains, Ericson gathers discarded telecommunication equipment and unearths forgotten lore such as Bell labs microfiche stashes. He often utilizes these finds to create Frankensteined instruments and cryptic artworks. He fuses analog synths and monster turntables with anachronistic industrial housings and mutated telephone gear in order to perform live with his own inventions. He recently procured a record-cutting lathe that once belonged to the storied Louis and Bebe Barron, and finds hidden magic in telephone employee service award jewelry. 

 Best friend and co-conspirator Spencer Hutchinson has this to say:

I've been making music and dabbling for far too long, and after pulling out of the cell tower industry and NYC, and retreating to our secret base in the mountains, I have been able to finally reach the goals i have been chasing for so long. I stopped playing other people's music as a "DJ" and have received far better feedback for my own music than I ever did as a DJ. 

I really want to thank Kurt Eckes, JC Hanna, and Wahida O. for helping me get here, and taking a chance on me ...  and Ian Lehman for showing me that all it takes is jumping off that cliff ... and Freddy Fresh for actually putting out my EP !!!

all I can do now is keep trying !

this set is a great representation of our 2007 sound, which incorporated lots of techno, progressive house, trance and indie rock.

A new multi format project from an OG in the scene that's been percolating since the pandemic. With over 20+ years in the game and various aliases along the way, it's time to pull the curtain and break out this new concept. Bringing a fusion of all the shit that formed my love of the electronic scene that formed a foundation with deep roots that include a live 808, vinyl, analog, digital a new hybrid set for those that live and breathe the 4 on the floor groove. Not limited to house, this improvised set could go off in any direction at any time.  Using all formats to play all formats!
With inspiration coming from Chicago House, Detroit Techno and all things groovy the basis of this concept is to stay true to the sounds and influences that have fused my inner being. Wanting to make a lasting contribution, a dj turned producer, the love child that is the All Formatz project will leave you sweaty and smiling.
