We reworked this classic for your listening pleasure.  Taking the original samples and following the guidelines that DJ Premier etched out. The Charlie Parker and Miles Davis sample is the driving force with the James Brown guitar and a cool Latin groove that comes from his Live at the Apollo II album filling in the full sound.  Re-working some elements in a new way with modern drums our own take on the track for a fresh spin on an amazing classic.

The debut release, a 12" featuring four DJ-friendly edits from Voodoocuts and SoulBrigada sets the tone and has a fine titular pun to boot in Afreaka! Voodoocuts takes the A-side duties, pairing up the raw '70s Ivory Coast funk of "Kelja" with the steamy Latin styles of "Tortoise Loops". Those wanting something a bit more disco in sound will gravitate towards the "Hustleman" edit from SoulBrigada which originates from West Africa and has a killer horn line!!! "Madera" sees SoulBrigada look to Cape Verde for source material and features some subtle additions.

Basement Freaks have been so busy tearing out dancefloor bombs that it was time to take the foot off the gas and call in some remixes of the favourite tracks taken from their all killer no filler album, Something Freaky.
On the remix tip is Brooklyn based DJ/Producer/Musical chameleon, Ursula 1000 who drops a highly anticipated disco breaks take on one of the stand out tracks of the album. Australia’s Omegaman drops a fast paced dubby version melding reggae riddims and live break beats to a huge distorted electro bassline. Next up is Quasamodo who provides a funked up tribute to the original. Finally, Bombastic Jam label mate Delimentry drops a funky break beat number with wobble bass stabs and falsetto vocals.

New York based duo D-Train released their first single "You're The One For Me", mixed by François Kevorkian, in late 1981 on Prelude Records. It was an instant success, hitting #1 for three weeks on the U.S. Hot Disco/Dance chart in Jan 1982 and #13 on the U.S. Soul chart. It also entered the UK Pop top-30. Larry Levan hammered it and made it a determinant Paradise Garage anthem. 
Among those who sampled it over the years are N.W.A. for their 1988 “Something 2 Dance 2”, Heavy D & the Boyz for their 1991 “Swinging With Da Hevster”, Pete Rock for his 2001 “Take The D-Train” and Prodigy for their 2004 hit “Girls”. 

It’s one of my 10 all-time fave dance tracks. The beat is sizzling hot, the bassline rules, the synths are dominant, the lyrics are so inspiring and James "D. Train" Williams’s voice is fascinatingly rich, this track is perfection through and through. 
On this mix you get lots of different sounds, extra percussion/bass/bells, longer funky intro, more breaks & reformed bridges and spiritual outro. Enjoy the loud shout!
