"Usul: Aksak Routine"  is an algorithmic  performance of electroacoustic music based on the rythmic system Usul of Turkish music. The term usul, which includes both the concepts of meter (measure) and rhythm, defines the rhythmic elements of all the structured musical pieces of the system. Every usul is a recurrent rhythmic circle – something similar of meter in western music – a model with a name and a pattern. The usuls are performed in beats, known in Turkish as "darp". Also the usuls are named according to the length and form of their beats and they are divided into two main groups, Minor usuls and Major usuls. The minors are those of 2 to 15 beats. The majors are those containing from 16 to 124 beats. The goal of this project is the use of minor usuls to create diffrent major usuls in real time.
The current multichannel (4ch to 8ch) piece consists of 6 sound sources. Each one of them returns a different minor usul, with samples created using the physical modeling software Genesis and SuperCollider. Every darp (beat) produced with graining effects in SuperCollider.  The rhythmic patterns and the sound spatialization are generated with original programs and routines, written also in SuperCollider. For controller in performance I am using a multitouch OSC controller.

This is from a live improvised jam earlier today (Sep 4) with my Creatures Once bandmate Monstrosus. It was a great way to spent part of this Labor Day off as we feel Fall setting in here in the Northwest. To Juntofy this, I took two of his keyboard lines and layered and panned them opposite. Kept bass and few textures. Removed drums to leave some space. 
Looking forward to hearing what everyones makes this week, and what will come next week!

Disquiet Junto Project 0050: -…….–.-..-…-
This week’s project explores Morse Code for its rhythmic content. The instructions are as follows: Select a word or phrase. Encode that word or phrase by the Morse method. Record a rhythmic foundation in which the dash is represented by a long beat and the dot by a brief one. Use that rhythmic foundation as a loop for the length of your track, at the speed you desire — speed can vary over the length of the recording. Record accompanying drone/melodic material that takes the underlying rhythm as its compositional foundation.

Broken Bongo Ocean [disquiet0052-bumpcc]

All sounds from recordings of my tongue drum. I had big groaning, creaking sounds in mind. Created in hotel room on day three of a power outage caused by falling trees after a windstorm. Took a walk and found this big pile of fallen trees by the river. So here's some droniness, some crunchy textures and a little melody because there's always some of that around. 
Experimenting with Ableton Live's warping modes for most of the sounds. Some delays and verbs. Rolled off a little low and high end. I hope its not too full and dense for someone to add more to it!
