R.I.C.O. G is a Hip Hop Artist born and raised in Oakland, CA. The college graduate decided to reside in New York after college in order to pursue Hip Hop in its birthplace. Rico’s music is inspired by too many artists to name in one bio, but some are Common, Kanye West, the entire Good Music, Jay Z, Lupe Fiasco, Andre 3,000, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G. , Q tip, Royce da 5'9", Pharrell, T.I. , Erykah Badu, and Lauren Hill, as well as new comers J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar. He still admits to being open minded and enjoying all artists and all genres. Rico recalls writing poetry as early as the fourth grade, and he recorded his first track at the age of thirteen with his older brother. However, athletic potential led him toward courts and fields rather than toward studios and stages. His lifetime as an athlete and a fan of sports makes up a significant portion of his lyrical content.
