Inspired by the Layfayette Afro-Rock Band's iconic 'Darkest Light', recognizable to most listeners as having been sampled by Jay-Z, the new reimagining of Koffee's 'Toast' flips the Grammy award winner's vocals into a vibey Electronic groove built around mellow piano chords with additional live bass guitar played by Piispahenri.

Ever since #blackouttuesday i’ve been struggling with getting my mind straight. I feel in the wrong to keep on doing what i love most, since i owe most of it to POC and various cultures but my own. Especially black people and -culture. After thinking, reading, watching and protesting with and alongside likeminded people, i’ve decided that music is to spread positivity and that -right now- i’m not helping anyone by restraining myself from it. As long as we don’t give up the fight, that is.

That’s why i’ve decided to try and raise money by distributing music on Bandcamp as well. The profits will be donated to 'Kick Out Zwarte Piet’, a Dutch organisation that fights institutionalised racism.

Berlin based music producer & DJ @lai-raw adds his signature #rawsauce to our latest Extended Family exclusive.

After migrating from Spain to Germany Lai Raw quickly became involved in Berlin’s creative scene, releasing music under @dope-est-dope and putting on events with his @195bln collective. Inspired by the careers and often uncompromising artistry of Kaytranada and Machinedrum, he developed a style that spans multiple genres and influences to keep his listeners interested. This approach to music production is highlighted on “She a Scorpio”, a remix of Smino’s ‘SUMMER SALT’ which pulls heavily from the rhythms of Baltimore & Jersey Club to offer up a glimpse of what you can expect from the rising talent in the coming weeks and months.
