From within my chicken head

In my chicken head I'm looking out my eye
at another chicken head who is passing by.

Into my chicken head I will climb to me
up inside my bird brain that God evolved into me.

From inside my chicken head, I'm looking out of my eye
and from within my chicken head, I see a deep blue sky

into which I, a caged and flightless bird, will not ever fly.
Nonetheless, in my chicken head, I will try and try.

From within my chicken head, I see a deep blue sky.
From within my chicken head, I see a passer by

looking out his chicken eye as he goes by.
Try and try, you chicken head, to fly into the sky.

Is there anything I know from within my chicken head?
I know that I am here not somewhere else instead.

I know that you are you inside your chicken head,
and when God cast us from the garden, this is what he said:

Get out of here you chicken head; go and make a living.
Go anywhere; I don't care, but you can't stay on in Eden.

My music doesn't come out of San Francisco. It doesn't come out of Detroit. It doesn't come out of the Mississippi Delta. I'd be proud if it did but it's not trying to be that. My music comes out of Mormon country, USA, within a place, within a period of history, within this culture. I'm trying embrace my LDS, my progressive, and my ultra conservative loved ones.
