Here's the recording for my DJ set from July 2nd, 2017 at the Katerblau Kiosk, hands down my favorite place to play music in Berlin.  The whole venue is a wonderland of discovery, the staff is extremely kind and hospitable, and I don't think I've played for a more open minded crowd in all of Europe. Longer sets allows you to take your time and be patient with the music, and the mixing.  The slow building journey I had imagined in my mind, was possible to make a reality, and extra time allowed me to experiment as well. This was probably my favorite gig of my entire 2 month Summer Sol Europe Tour. I hope you enjoy this mix as much as I had creating it in the Kiosk.  Thanks to Mira, Britta, Martin, Claudia, Joyce, David, Brett, Toto, Sylvie, Dorin, any other friends I may have forgotten who were there, and especially to all you lovely dancers who joined me on this ride. Korean-American artist Lawrence Lee has been carving a name for himself on dance floors internationally. Known for his unique twist on Techno, Acid and House music, he has recently released on DJ Haus' House Crime Records and fellow New York-Berlin artist P.Leone’s E-Missions, and more. Here though we see him mark his debut for Par-ka Records with the ‘BioDome’ EP which welcomes San Francisco’s Vin Sol on remix duties.
The original mix of ‘Biodome’ leads with crunchy breaks, heady arpeggios, gritty bass leads and rave-tinged strings to perfectly set the tone ahead of Vin Sol’s ‘Dome Inside A Dome Mix’ which opts for a more direct 4/4 rhythmic approach whilst stirring in the chopped snippets of the original’s melodies alongside menacing acid bass and distorted percussion.
The ‘Fuse (Tunnel Mix)’ opens the flip-side, a high-octane cut fuelled by a robust drum machine workout as murky bass swells, snaking strings and resonant synths wander throughout. The ‘Cell GT Mix’ then closes the package, laying more focus on the rhythmic elements as the billowing synths and airy strings subtly meander within

About the Release:
Sol Selectas run by Sabo is a US label with a deep and melodic sound that fuses vibrant percussive grooves with a world music influence.

Taking samples from ethnic folk music and layering them over sequenced beats, the Sol Selectas style of house music is regularly supported by DJ’s all around the globe.

Multicultural, the label's roster of artists has included people from all four corners and featured track and remixes from the likes of UNER, Blond:ish, Acid Pauli, Nico Stojan and of course Sabo himself.

The latest Sol Selectas release is a collaboration between Sabo and Moroccan artist Amine K who before this release had featured on other labels such as Selador, Souvenir Music and Systematic Recordings.

Like all of Sabo’s releases this is heavenly influenced by his extensive world travels to experience different cultures, and this is reflected in its title “Tiniri” which means “Sahara” in the traditional Berber tribal language native to Morocco.

Also on the release is a remix from Matthias Meyer who’s highly sought after production skills have led to his impressive back of releases on labels including Anjunadeep, Saved Records, Bedrock, Watergate, Pets Recordings and Liebe*Detail.

Made during a studio session Marrakesh, the title track “Tiniri” opens with scene setting ambient sounds from the Medina. Recording the instruments and vocals specifically for this stunning cut of storytelling house music, the percussive energy and Arabic influence takes us on an audio journey of the hustle and bustle in one of Morocco’s biggest cities.

“Tiniri” is led by a prominent vocal recorded in Arabic, but for those who prefer to focus on the traditional Morocan instruments such as the Krake, Gembri, and Dharbouka which make up the core of its groove, there is also a dub version.

Matthias Meyer’s remix of “Tiniri” has a much more sequenced groove with a drum machine replacing some of the recorded percussion. He also adds his own synth melody that becomes the foundation for the original parts to be layered on top as ambient textures. Expertly programmed, this exquisite remix will no doubt be a firm favourite of DJ’s looking for a more refined version of the original.

Second of the two original cuts on the EP is "Amanar" that has tightly sequenced percussion layered under trumpets, which crackle like sand in the hot desert air. Building towards the main breakdown the track springs to life with a flamenco guitar with adds a vibrant sparkle to this majestic slice of deep house.

The ‘Prospect EP’ is three-track collaboration between the acclaimed Nox Vahn (fka Fairchild), and British-born rising talent Marsh.

Opening with distant wildlife sounds, an unassuming intro gives way to colossal pitch-bending synths in ‘Prospect’. ‘Follow Me’ sees the pair collaborate with American singer-producer Mimi Page to deliver a dream-like arrangement, whilst ‘Serena’s Garden’ (as heard on Anjunadeep 10) concludes the EP with ghostly vocals atop a backdrop of field-recordings.

Saqib and Bryant Jensen are dreamers, artists, visionaries and dear friends who DJ/produce dance music in Brooklyn. Between them they have about thirty years of musical experience ranging from metal to hip-hop to house, minimal and beyond.

Saqib is a resident artist and label manager for ebb + flow based in NYC and For The People based in Toronto. Bryant Jensen is a resident DJ for Bespoke Musik, the creative director for Zero, and in general a very well respected vibe creator.

Their friendship runs deep,as do their sets; anyone who taken a sonic journey with them can attest. To some they are known as Saqib and Bryant, but to others they are known simply as the Jamburglars.

Their energetic, spontaneous, and well-crafted dancefloor instigations have earned them notoriety in NYC and beyond. They are very active in the studio with several upcoming releases in 2020. Here, they remake the 23 year old “California Love” by Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur which is available as a free download.

Catch them in Brooklyn this Saturday December 21st for the Jam Burglars Holiday Shakedown at the Williamsburg Hotel water tower and at Love Burn 2020.
