This version has some imperfections; the biggest one is the bassline not being synced with the rest of the band at the first chorus (luckily the intro is tight though; I'm glad because a good start is half the work), but later on it gets synced again. I think we could have easily redone that bass part, but with the time we had we didn't notice it; once I noticed it we couldn't change it anymore. This is a starting rockband though, we are only human; and maybe it adds something artistic you could say. Imperfection can be ok, better next time! It's part of the process. The rest of this song is perfect if you ask me haha. :p

The first 'home studio' demo from Under Construction, the (former) 4-piece band from Delft, The Netherlands! We recorded this with an external soundcard, ableton, our own instruments and our own gear, some of which kind of sucked. 

We produced it ourselves (for a great part) and credits to Jeremy van Haastert for doing some of the mastering. I mastered it with the soundcloud Dolby master function afterwards though.

It features Electronic Drums/superior drummer and sometimes it sounds more 'static' than it's supposed to because it's not an acoustic kit.. But its ok.

When UC made this demo in 2015 I thought the ending was missing something, therefore I came up with a solo on a keyboard. Lesson learned; a drummer should never try something melodic; the band split up soon afterwards.. xD No just kidding, the split up was in 2017 for different reasons. But unfortunately the other band-members didn't want the solo for the live/band version because we couldn't reproduce it in a live setting. Fair enough, I like it better with that solo so I kept it in this enhanced version.

Under Construction - 7even

Under Construction's goodbye song: Under Construction split up. Although we created 11 songs together, Shadow was our last and only professional studio recording and we think it's fine! Too bad we didn't record more, we had better songs but just didn't record it in a pro studio. Lucky thing we recorded some live performances and home studio demos. We're grateful for everything we achieved and learned and we go separate ways as friends.. :) We will proceed making music but not together, for instance I think I'll start another band in the future and I'll experiment with producing and playing keyboard. 

I think Under Construction's goal was to learn about the process of making music.. That's why we didn't even record our whole album although we had 11 songs.

Under Construction - Shadow

I came up with a bass riff and made a fitting drumpart for it. I used Superior Drummer for the drum sounds and triggered it via my electronic drumkit. I modified the drum sounds until it was right to my ears. Maybe I'll use it for a song sometime.

I was improvising on that kit for a few minutes and made a montage of some parts that fitted together (kind of). Everything you hear is 'triggered' via the e-drum kit by hitting the cymbals and drums. The Dubstep, DnB, Melodic, Techno and Metal sounds as well. Thanks Bax-shop, I hope I wasn't too much of a disturbance xD Fortunately this room is isolated and it's a good thing those e-drums have a volume knob. ;) Another benefit of e-drums in contrast to acoustic ones!

Really something else with those live triggered sounds, a bit 'different' but in a good way if you ask me! :) Nice & Progressive..
