We’re bringing you a tease of the project with a laid-back, easygoing feel. The beats will groove at a slower speed  – it’s like a musical sweet spot. We’ve gathered a group of artists who are not just talented but also our friends. Chosen because they know how to create the kind of music we love. Each artist has a special skill set that fits right into the Smokers Lounge.

Even though we’ve been aiming for a chill sound, we want each artist to add their own unique flavor to the music – A freedom & this isn’t just about following a formula or trend – it’s a team effort to create a mix of different but fitting sounds. The producers personal touch is what will make this project shine.We are really excited! This project is all about mixing talent, creativity, and a laid-back vibe. It’s a celebration of the movement of sounds Ninetofive is known for.

No stranger to the label having assumed mastering duties across several releases, Behrang Mohammadi touches down for his official Warning debut. It’s a deadly one-two punch as the Inkonst resident conjures DIY spirits on a typically idiosyncratic lathe cut 12", complete with a remix from OG Salon Des Amateurs resident Philipp Otterbach.

Original cut ‘Tears Only Fall From The Right Eye’ recalls Dutch darkwave innovator Das Ding at his strangest. Eerie retro-futurism awash in a sea of spatially-aware dub FX, Mohammadi summons his more explorative side with some hauntingly sparse, smudged. electro.

But where the original deployed dub sirens and swathes of reverb to mesmeric effect, Otterbach leans fully into his dubbiest inclinations. It’s the axis point where break-neck IDM pointillism, industrial heft and pure dread bassweight collide. Bone-rattling stuff.

Lidia Ponjavic

Lidia Ponjcavic is a DJ & producer based in Malmö, Sweden, born 1993. Her creative journey started with a background in graphic design and later on led into music. Over the past years she’s been active in the local scene through the collective/label Alleycat Anthem which she’s also a part of, as well as the  duo Liron with her creative partner Aron Mody. Where she usually dives in to the electronic 4x4 side of music, in this mix we get a subtle trip of ambience with a selection ranging from Alan Hawkshaw & Brian Bennett to the unique sounds of Stereolab, sprinkled with some newly found Bandcamp tracks.

Over the years the siblings have shared a mutual passion for music across different genres with one eye open on the hiphop scene. In this mix in particular we get a fine blend between soulful beats, underground hiphop from NY, hidden Youtube gems & bangers from the early 2000’s southside. You’ll hear tracks from Onra, Hus KingPin, Lil Phat, The LOX & Juvenile to name a few.

I am thrilled to announce the collaboration album by Oh, My and Boukas. This unique project, titled “Exploration of Sounds,” was created in the beautiful and peaceful southern parts of Sweden, where both producers, spent several days getting inspired and making music together myself included. In a world dominated by digital production, Oh, My and Boukas took a different approach to making music. They used authentic equipment that modern VSTs try to replicate, capturing the warm, rich sounds that only real instruments can produce. This dedication to authenticity shines through in every note of their work.

The project started together with Oh, My and Boukas in the house we rented that we thought had just the perfect atmosphere and organic vibe to inspire us in a creative way.

After the first day, when all the equipment was connected and working, the two talented producers began to improvise with both ideas and their musical vision. The release is starting to take shape.

Early in the morning of the second day, when I got up, Oh, My and Boukas were already up and writing melodies and beautiful tones to the mist outside. I was really impressed by their work together and how everything synced so easily with their collaboration. The project is gaining momentum, and one gets a little glimpse of what is to come, and even then, I understood that this would be incredibly unique.

On the third day, the feeling for the project was already in sync, and even today I wonder if the two sensed how all the songs had a consistent style where everything fit together so nicely. A project I am incredibly proud to present, where people not only make music together in one place but also share memories, food, and laughter – something that is rare today, as one usually only receives an email from the person they are working with.

After the time spent at the house together with Oh, My. and Boukas it was time to head off to ‘The Swedish Gramophone Studio’ that’s located in Gothenburg where we teamed up with Alexandros Koutsogiannis who contributed with his incredible talent on saxophone, flute and bass clarinet and Daniel Andersson with his contrabass to add depth – Truly an amazing journey and being able to witness the talent.

Oh, My. & Boukas - 18:01 (Day 1)

We find ourselves in some crazy times these days and we hope you all are safe out there! To sprinkle some positive vibes for you we have invited our friend Hampus Karlsson aka hhhaaammmpppuuusss to set the mood for you and your quarantined self on the 27th episode of Podcats. Besides having one of the most original artist names out there, this cat has been a feen collecting records and rocking the MPC 2000 for a while now. Based in his hometown of Kalmar, he has been spinning records lowkey in his turf and pops up whenever he feels like it to bring his vibe, just recently at NTS Radio. For this episode we are delighted with a all vinyl-set filled with sounds of funk/soul to South African disco and 90s house straight from his record collection. He calls the mix “Healing Yourself With Sounds” and we definitely can vouch for that as it’s a superdope selection that for sure will bring you some good treatment in these days. Enjoy!
