We are blessed to be joined by the wonderful, Birrarunga/Melbourne-based DJ Luv You / @djluvyou for Rotations Round 13. Ophelia aka DJ Luv You is the host of All Kinds of Joy on Skylab Radio, and one of the folk behind LUNA ( @luna_blessings )- a show on LYL Radio, party and mix series. Drawing from the moon's energy; LUNA is a space for sharing creations from womxn, queer and non-binary artists.  We've been keeping an eye on Ophelia for some time and have been so drawn to the playfulness and joy exuded in their mixes and live sets. This one is no different as Ophelia takes us through dreamy breakbeats, deep and groovy dancefloor fillers and left-field housey numbers.

Kennedy - In A Spirit World (DREAM0)

The heaving canal-side walkways and rabble of cash-flush tourists inside Amsterdam’s city limits play in direct opposition to the calm of the suburbs. Tourist-traps and questionable restaurant advice at the hotel front desk left a sour taste in his mouth in previous days, but drowning amongst a sea of glassy-eyed Brits appears a necessary torment on this evening’s agenda. Enticed by strong promise of local spots and the best music the Dutch capital has to offer, he heads ‘Noord’ to meet with old friends. But first, a cheeky trip to the Smartshop. 

Hailing from Utrecht, electronic label SoHaSo releases the second outing of their fantastic ‘NOWHERE’ series. ‘NOWHERE02’ serves as a diverse compilation of music from across the electronic spectrum, showcasing the eclectic roster of Netherlands-based producers that call the label home. Our pick, ‘smwajkb’ by RDS, is a breakbeat/IDM hybrid filled with panic-stricken basslines and frantic breaks, perfectly contrasting with the track’s celestial synths.

Floss Dogg has gone from strength to strength since she started performing at Primer, an event she co-runs alongside partners Robbie nine-0 and Freddy Gardens since 2017. She plays a mixture of club heat, packing a bag that spans from UK bass and techno to classic house and garage. To further nourish her need to create and share music, Floss created the Astro girl night at Angel Music Bar, a platform which highlights Melbourne’s more underground DJs. Alongside that, she is also the host of Arvo Girls, a monthly Skylab Radio broadcast which doubles as a weekly night at Dr Morse.

Takeshi Kouzuki returns to ALLEY VERSION label for sharing with the brothers duo FLML, the split mini-LP “Tracks From The Alley”.

From his early cult releases for Mathematics Recordings, Takeshi Kouzuki, as in these new tracks, keeps crossing old school house with his recognizable classy signature.
The warm but hitting acid of “福”, opens the Takeshi Kouzuki’s side, while in the second track “1986” deep-and-dark synthetic magic atmospheres are driven by the beating of the twins TR707 and TR727 drum machines. “Yellowacid” burns in its acid-jackin’ madness.

Openig FLML’s side “Hot Spread” is obscure jackin’ techno mechanical psychedelia, the following “Jack That Strings” is a pure raw windy city deep‘n’acid track. In the closing “Does Mean It’s You” a freaky FM synth melody is driven by the pulsing of liquid and creepy analog synths and drums, while an 8-bit sampled Andy Warhol’s speaking fragment marks the space, until dies in a delay feedback.

“Tracks From The Alley” is released exclusively on limited 12” vinyl.

“For our 1st show of the year we’d like to welcome OA team member, Aleks to the airwaves.
Aleks released his first album “Pool Daze” on OA back in 17, 9 deep hardware cuts, and 2 powerful HVL remixes.
He then continued his journey with labels such as Natural Sciences, Deeptrax and his own imprint, Lonely Planet, where he’s just finished producing a new album, from “space with love”, out later this year.
For today’s show Aleks worked on a mighty 2 hr set, the first hour of which is A deep techno & knackered house DJ set; the 2nd part he has prepared live set packed with his signature sounds built around analogue gear, degraded tape & distortion pedals.
